Snow has now cleared and I'm taking that these signs were put up when it was snowy / icy.

Barriere de degel Barrier Thaw? What does this mean and what is a driver supposed to do? Loads of these signs on the roads around here but nothing to stop you driving along the roads.

Barriere de degel
1/2 charge autorisee And this sign was in Perigueux. Half load allowed?

Any enlightenment ?

Holly....Don't worry.... they are all over France it is to stop Dustmen and any heavy lorries entering the village and damaging the road while it is icy and frozen it may even have a weight limit of 7.5 tons.
You will be ok to drive on it....they may even have a speed limit of 40km...they will remove at a later date
