We are at Chicken run for a couple of days. Lovely little place, very welcoming hosts, and a great place to while a bit of time away in the sun.

Glorious day today, Sian's sunbathing, Katie's off somewhere horseriding with our hosts daughters and I'm doing a bit of work in the shade of this orange tree.

It must be good being a rich forum owner.

Don't worry, your empire is safe in our hands, keep up the good work, we'll just carry on chattering away amongst ourselves.

Hi Karl, will do a proper report later, taken plenty of photos, this place would suit you down to the ground. half decent 5gb Internet, local bar just up the road, very quiet area so you could sleep during the day after working most of the night with your business. Very rural but excellent supermarket within walking distance.

Think family small holding; Ducks, oranges, chickens, lemons, goats (coming this week) horses. Very accommodating owners, nothing too much trouble, hookups if you need them, the pump turned on twice a day to draw water from the well. Triffic, we have places we need to be this week but its going to be hard to drag Katie away from Chicken run:Smile::thumb:

I'm not only green with envy but weeping!
Was booked in the Chicken Run for a month with the French motorhome that turned out to be dodgy.

So stuck here in sub zero temperatures I at last, after almost 2 weeks, have 1 toilet that can be used, still no running water, a ceiling that is going to have to be pulled down & possibly a wall too. Bill at €2000 and rising........ thank God for house insurance but no confirmation yet that they'll pay out.

Enjoy and savour... it sounds waaaaaayy better than living here.

Where in portugal is it?

The Chicken Run on Google map

The building you can see on the above map is the owners static caravan.

If you read this Jim and are heading for Zahora as you said, it may be worth calling to ensure they can give you a pitch. Next weekend is Andalusia Day and they say it will be very busy.

LPG is readily available in Portugal, unlike Spain. I have used a Repsol garage in Portimao which is a short drive from the Chicken Run, and there may be others.

We have been wintering down South for a number of years and you cannot say exactly what the weather will be like. This year has been fantastic but 2 years ago it was bad all along the Med. and Atlantic coasts with storms in Valencia and right down to Cape Sao Vincente (the S. W. of Portugal)
It does get cold at night in winter but almost anywhere it will be warmer than winter in the UK.
Jim has just reported earlier in this thread he was sitting in some very warm weather at the Chicken Run. :sin:
