whilst waiting for Geo to sevice the m/h yesterday I bought MMM to pass the time, BIG thanks Geo

One of the mags letters to editor stated that DFDS no longer allow 13K gas bottles and that on booking in travellers are asked what size bottles they have and if they are 13k they are not allowed to travel till they are removed or swapped for smaller ones, 11k is the largest allowed. Its in the terms and contitions,

Not sure if all this is compleatly correct but thought it might interest those carring larger bottles.

You are correct Phill.
Currently, there are different Terms and Conditions for the different routes.

since 2005 (but 30 years caravanning)
Without knowing this, I have just booked DFDS from Harwich to Denmark, and now have a problem as our van has 1 13 and 1 6 kg cylinders which I have been totally happy with so far.

Are these rules strictly enforced?

Looks like I may have to change our gas system before we go, but you cannot get easily changed british 11kg cylinders. Tempted by gaslow but its very expensive and I cannot see where to fit a filler on our van - a rapido.

Help???

Thanks

could be a problem for those with fixed tanks.....like me

i have 1 x 135ltr domestic tank and 2 x 70ltr and 1 x 55ltr engine tanks.....eurotunnel is out so if the ferries wont allow them i wont be going to foreign parts any time soon.

We have traveled several times on DFDS Dover - Dunkirk with 2 x 13 kg bottles.
Never been asked, never been stopped regarding the gas or anything else.

When I worked on the ferries, I never saw anyone check gas bottles in motorhomes or caravans, even to just check the bottles were closed, never mind the size of the bottles. That included the ports of, Dover, Hull, Felixstowe, and Fishguard.
