As you may have read from "Frankie`s" (Yodelli) thread

"HELP Emergency"....

Possibly Judy`s and my computer were got at with a fake E.mail (Words to the effect = Mugged stuck in Madrid) .... which has been sent to numerous people in Spain and the UK...

Can some one tell us what we should do ?

Or do we just ignore them and also those it was sent to do they just ignore them..

We would like to know and should we curtail sending any e.mails..

Bit worried cos I transfer money from one account to the other..

We have both got up to date "Norton" security thingmejigs..

Any help from you knowledgeable people would be gratefully received...

Thanks.. :thumb:

Not sure but try a new password for your e-mail account?

have you ISP change your email password

I suffered with this bad last year when a Canadian Health Care company hijacked my email address book.. and kept sending out emails to people using my account. It got so bad that someone complained I was spamming them.. AOL threatened to close my account and I had to have a long conversation with them and in the end they reset my password at there end and that stopped it.

So Mo change the password at the ISP (Internet Service provider).

I think Judy has been sending e.mails...

I have not,,,,, and I think, mine is OK..

I think you may be right re "Monitering".... Not sure if you read the RVOC site threads (Sister Club to Funsters)... but =

Larry & Win who are camped next to us started a thread that when he logs on he gets a tune "Jingle Bells"...

And strangely enough a couple of days ago when I was on Judy`s computer that also started to play a strange tune... only heard it once... but Larry gets it each time he logs on or starts up his computer....

I wander if that has some thing to do with us being spammed or whatever its called...

Although I dont think any spoof e.mails have been sent in his name...

Judy has been told to do a virus check and change her e.mail password...

Do you think that will resolve the problem ?

Thanks.

Can you get into your email account?

A friend of mine had this happen to him but the hackers changed his password so he couldn't log into his own account and warn people.

Another friend sent £1000 so I know these scams actually work.

I don't know anything about this but if you CAN still access your emails and just change the password could it be that the hackers can access that too? Have they installed one of those sneaky keyboard copying thingies?

I suggest a big computer virus sweep and a new email address.

By the way I sent you £2500 but don't worry... I'll pick it up at Marjal...

I tried that myself

Mo, I tried that myself.. but it did not stop it... had to get AOL to do it at there end.. then it stopped.. did not have to change my email address.. but then I also have a couple of different email accounts and that helps.

Hope you get it sorted out soon.

(snip) a Canadian Health Care company hijacked my email address book.. (snip)
I deliberately do not use the address book facility in Eudora, the e-mail client we use (similar facility as in Lookout Distress), to prevent such hijacks.
