We intend to spend 3 weeks in April in the Pyrenees :Smile:doing plenty of walking.
There seems to be approx 20 aires sites in the Pyrenees can anybody recommend preferable places to stay?

Lac Bleu. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Also try to do the cable car up the Pic du Midi, if you've not done it before.

Stunning part of the world.

We spent 4 days at Laruns, it is a large aire with all amenities, including 2 with free electric. The village is a 2 minute walk away and a good supermarket 5 min walk down the hill in the other direction.

If you have a satellite dish or dome, reception is very good and the scenery is fantastic.

It was a little rainy when we were there but when the sun came out on the mountains it was fantastic, there are lots of good walks and would be a great place to stay for a few days or just as stopping place.

The aire is of course free.

Sorry, I can't remember the exact location of the camp site after all this time

If you look at 65200 Bagnères-de-Bigorre, France I am sure there is camping there near the river.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=il shows the location of Lac Bleu.

Ax les Thermes has a natural spring in the High Street--people sit round the sides of it with their feet in the warm mineral water. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=il
