firstly have you got the payload capacity for these right out at the back as the further behind the axle the more weight it actually puts on.
personally id go for a small trailer.

I agree with Aba......a 250cc scooter may weigh 150kg/175kg (my 400cc Suzuki Bergman was 200kg) hanging that, plus the weight of a rack, 6ft behind the rear axle may make it 250kg or more pressing down on the axle.
that's a big chunk of payload, even if you have that much at the back.

Wine, spirits, beer, and Tabbaco, are exempt from weight calculations

I have the Easy Lifter ( Non Hydraulic ) and carry a Honda SH 300 with ease.

It bolts directly to the towing bracket so is easy toi fit if you have a tow bar.

As previously mentioned there is quite a bit of maths to be done regarding overhang and payload and rear axle weights etc.

I opted for the no hydraulic simply because the rack itself weighs less ( This has to added into the weights ) and it gets the bike closer to the back of the vehicle ie less overhang.

Another consideration would be the firmness of the rear suspension.

If you vehicle always wallows on corners then adding a scooter on the back will make this worse.

Good Luck

Neil

Hi I saw some where a trailer with the scooter etc, mounted sideways, that used a double tow bar system, so reversing was a doddle and the wheight was carried on the trailer not the MH. Pete :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Hi Andy
Yes that looks like the one, reversing something that small is usually not on. Pete :thumb:
not a problem with these as the trailer become a rigid part of the van and only the wheels swivel through 360deg.
so you cant 'jack-knife' it :thumb:

only snag is...it will cost more than the bike you put on it

Saw this on an American (where else) website. The builder stated that he uses the rack for 1000 miles then rebuilds it.:Eeek:

Would I use it?.........NO!

The Eazy lifter with the caster wheels is great IF you have a small light bike

Richard ( The Scotties ) and I both bought a hydra-trail and both of us returned them..

They are really well built, the chap who builds them is a nice chap and I can recommend his stuff.. but NOT for heavy bikes ( 200k plus )

He built two specials for Richard and I but sorry to say they were simply not suitable.. due to the cantilever effect they actually twisted the 4" box section tow bar like a torsion bar

If you are contemplating a light bike the system really is excellent ( We both paid £850 each as we ordered the two together.. Due to issues as mentioned they were returned without issue or argument )
