Not surprised. Whenever I visited one of their stores (shut down now) it was a disorganised mess with surly miserable staff.

I fear it will not be the last to bite the dust in these uncertain trading times.. however I was suprised that in Tunbridge Wells (Kent) Wicks have closed a large store and give staff two weeks notice.. but as soon as the doors were closed ASDA have sent in a team to convert the empty store and the Benson Beds that closed down also within the past 6 months.. seems they are putting a large ASAD clothes, tv type store.. no food sales allow on this retail area.

In the past year we have had a M&S store, John Lewes, and a lot of others like Pets at Home, Staples, Dreams Beds.. all open up ..so where is all the money to support all these stores.. The Longield Road retail area has not only every car franchise expecpt Range Rover, Porce and Rolls (two in the next town of Tonbridge) it has B& Q super store, Toyrs R Us, Argos, comet, PC World super store, Hobbycraft and about a dozen more as well as the mentioned John Lewes and M&S... One has to question why some can make it and others cannot?

I was going to post "I passed Discovery in Darlington today, looked dead".

Now I see why.

We bought our van from them when still Barons, head office, perfect service.

We've been in Darlington a few times, nice tidy showroom, good outside sales area.

I guess all sites were not equal.

Yes I agree I bought my first MH at the Then Barons site In Coppul ,the second from Discover darlington both site well stocked with good staff and after sales service in my experience, lets hope they servive for the sake of the staff and existing clients. Pete :thumb::thumb:

You bet.

When a business like that fails there are so many losers and b^%$$£"d winners.

I had a small debt from a small firm who went tits up, for the next five years I got statements from the administrators. You would not believe their bills, they would not wipe their bums without putting in a silly price for gold plated toilet paper. Naturally I got nothing. The workers got nothing. The suppliers got nothing. The administrators, the government and the banks, they got the scraps.

Where are we right now, 2,400,000 unemployed ?

Will they be able to fudge the figures quickly enough to stop the 3,000,000 headlines ?

I feel for those folk that are only half customers (so to speak) that have paid deposits for vans but havent had them yet. Now do they all go to the bottom of the stack for a percentage repayment when all is sorted or will they get full deposits back and quickly. Or will their orders be fulfilled?

How many peoples dreams will be shattered by this (this is not a question)

The one at Darlington (ex Barrons) was flying at the top of the mast when we drove down the A1(M) yeaterday.

under normal circumstances the York branch fly the flag at half mast when they are closed for business....doesn't look like anyone will be available to hoist it back up
