"No"... not another thread on "Gas Attacks".......

Having read through that thread and thought the "Red " flashing light to simulate an alarm being on was a good idea and not being able to put my alarm on when we are in the vehicle (Because as with most movement will set it off)

I did a search and for Under £10 you can buy a dummy, here it is.. :thumb:

Great idea, but problem with that one is that it flashes all the time even when you are sitting outside the van with the door open at night so may indicate to any potential burglar that it's a dummy.
You can also get on ebay ones that can be switched which is what I am going for. Switch it on as you go out or bed down for the night and it looks like you have just set the alarm.

I have a red LED built into the awning light with an on off button by the door.
The best system I have had was from Halfords, and was made up from one of there reversing beeper kits. Sensors at each window with a red LED attached to warn anyone that approaches the van. A low pitched alarm beeper fitted inside the awning light. Cost about £40 and was the best deterrent ever,it never woke me up but anyone coming within 10 feet of the van was made aware that there was a deterrent in use.The van now has some fancy gas alarm with sensors all around the base of the van,but am not sure if it works and dont realy want to find out.

I was looking for one you can switch off, but couldn`t find one..

Ordered one of those now... will just have to make some sort of clip and take it down when not needed and put it in the glove compartment.. or fix it to the "Sun Visor" and just flip it down when required..

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
What a good idea. We never set ours when we are in it , though we do set it when the dogs are in alone . It has a different setting.
Making a different beep on the key fob. Somehow it doesn't go off when they move.

It would surely be simpler to cut the wire and fit a switch.........would invalidate your warranty but for £10 what the hell!

I dont know Larry... cos I am fick... I will get you to have a look in a couple of weeks..

My alarm light cannot be seen from outside when the curtains are drawn at night...

So the idea of that little gadget is to put it where it can be seen when we stopover if not on a secure site.. :thumb:

Many many moons ago, I remember this alarm made by a company called bizeq - Very over-priced 15 years ago, but it could be fully armed, whilst you were wandering around inside. It had no external sensors, but was contained in a little rectangular box which you could put anywhere and turn on/off with a key.

Assuming they have fallen from their £260 price tag, they could make a useful alarm.

i would say this item has an integral switch already.....

as it appears to be a sealed unit, without a switch it will start flashing the moment the led is connected to the battery during manufacture.

better be well packaged for postage, post office get suspicious of flashing parcels :roflmto:

If you buy a flashing LED ( about £1.00 ) and wire it ACROSS the outside light switch, it will come on when you switch the outside light off and go out when you turn it on.. If like my van you can turn off the outside light circuit from the control panel then when it is parked up and you do not want it flashing simply turn off the circuit.

Total cost is a maybe 20 minutes time and a quid !

hi, you can have as many flashing lights as you want .it wont stop the phantom gassers .
everyone knows they carry an aerosol of the most sleepy type gasses. not found in the normal places. the gas is not known by the so called experts its only available to the criminal specialists. we can talk about them but they just appear do the job and then disapear into thin air. they are way beyond being put off by a couple of flashing lights. the gas containers are about the size of soda syphon gas bottles but its so compressed they contain equivelant of a tanker of nomal sleep gas. oxygen botles as used by james bond allows entry into your van. how we stop them is almost impossible . some say hanging a crucifix or garlic around the door works. it as been proven that shooting them with silver bullets or driving a wooden stake into the heart stops them abit like the draculas.
hope these tips make for a pleashant trip.
cheers alan.

I am of the opinion a "Flasher" is a lot better and stands out more than a non flasher..:winky::ROFLMAO:
