Broken Link Removed

It's not right, is it?
Too cheap, link too long. "ask a question" takes you to a form that's not the norm. Try saving it to Watch list and it flips to another item.

How does it work though?

ebay is www.ebay.co.uk. This is ebay-co-uk, so its not ebay! The domain is actually studio121.biz, which is registered to someone called spencer bungard, in london.

Could be a legit trader but seems unlikely since he is pretending to be e-bay.

I would stay clear.

Didn't spot the ebay-co-uk bit. Thanks for that.

It's listed in an Ebay seller shop. Clicking on question for another item (incense sticks) brings up the regular form--so maybe their a/c has been hijacked.

It is still on Ebay but the finishing time has changed. Can't report it to Ebay as it has no item number. Just shows the things you don;t notice when you're skimming through.

As a precaution I've run a virus scan and a malware scan. Thanks for the warning.

indeed it is still there and this time i got to see the item.

now this is an usual one.....usually, with a scam, when you click the sellers name or feedback score it takes you nowhere, just a message saying 'there is a problem' with feedback or takes you to 'MY WORLD' for the sellers profile.

this one DOES take you to the sellers profile and feedback history.:Eeek:

Yes, I thought that was odd, too
My feeling is that a genuine seller has had their account hijacked and this item added in to their listing but enquiries etc... going straight to hijacker.
The only good point that I can see, from a purely selfish point of view, is that I'm getting better at spotting scams!

just 'messaged' (within ebay) the account holder 'aroma-relief' to see if they are aware of the cloned web page.

Firefox 3 or later contains built-in Phishing and Malware Protection to help keep you safe online. These features will warn you when a page you visit has been reported as a Web Forgery of a legitimate site (sometimes called “phishing” pages) or as an Attack Site designed to harm your computer (otherwise known as malware).

The latest version of firefox highlights the domain. For example this page shows

www.motorhomefun.co.uk/motorhome-chat/40079-scam-genuine-2.html

Makes it easy to see at a glance what the actual domain name is.

my antivirus stops me going there...... but.... earlier scams were identifiable because when you click on the item the page refreshes after about half a second.

Please, please, don't hope that ebay will show any interest. they don't care. Nor does watchdog, nor does the newspaper fraternity.

These scams will run and run.
