Hi guys advice appreciated, used the web for 10 years and have always been cautious, today I blundered. Quickly going though my emails found an untitled one from a good friend with a link and no other text. This particular friend often sends jokes and links to funnies, I was in a rush and without engaging brain I clicked the link:Eeek::Eeek::Eeek::Eeek:

Opened up into a Canadian Pharmacy site pushing sales of Viagra and the like.:Angry::Angry:

Unplugged dongle immediately and deleted email. What are the likely consequences, have I now a Trojan or worse and how do I go about checking/sorting the problem, I feel such a prat:Blush::Blush::Blush:

Performed a full virus scan (I use the free version of Avira) and nothing picked up. But I'm still very concerned:cry:

Download the free version of malwarebytes, there is not much that it misses. If it reports you clear I would relax.

this 'pharmacy' highjacks email address books and sends unsolicited emails to your contacts.

while it will use your email account to send the emails its unlikely it will be harmful to your computer other than this.

only solution is to change your email account password before your internet provider starts getting complaints against you.

Shirl was scammed by them and i put up a thread about it here but we asked Jim to remove it.

Cheers guys to all who've replied, still concerned but you've given me a good laugh.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Malware downloaded and scanning as I write!

A question what will changing email password achieve, never thought of doing that?

Next time you see your mate check to see if he has a stiff neck, if you take the dodgy stuff without water this is a symptom and you will know what he has been up to :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Viagra

A quick tip, whenever forwarding emails / jokes and the like always delete the previous sender and anyone he has sent it to as these are where the scammers get all their addresses.

On a lighter note I take a quarter of one viagra each night, not for any fruity reason it justs stops me rolling out of bed.:ROFLMAO::shout::roflmto::ROFLMAO:
