To help keep the cost down on the repairs to the floor of the van the workshop is letting me remove some of the interior. On removing the Carver water heater the bit that screws into the side of the van is covered in sealing mastic. As I am now paranoid about water ingress can anyone give me some idea on the best way to remove the mastic and what would be the best method to reseal when I have to put it back.

Thanks
