12v to 24v power supply wanted (1 Viewer)

Hi I need 24v for a little project, anybody know where I can get hold of 12v to 24v converter? must be over 5amp output and cheap.

Hi papa that's one way, but I am fairly confidant that it will work, its the power supply which is a problem. There used to be a battery combiner gizmo, you could use it in a 12v system with 2 batteries to get 24v, but I can't find it now.

Brian you can borrow my glasses. Plenty of 24v to 12v, but nowt the other way.

Assuming that both your domestic and engine batteries are 12 volt and they DONT share a common earth, then an earth from one and the positive from the other with a bridging link from the other earth to the other positive will give you 24 volts, But its bloody risky. lots of checking first.

there are some listed on ebay but vary in price from around £30 to £70 for a 5 or 10 amp jobby

I did type 12 to 24 but ebay reverses it and I didn't spot this.

Also, 12-24V converters are made by Alfatronix - Roadpro sell their step-down converters but not the step-up models. However as a dealer, they might be able to get one for you.
