Garmin SatNav suitable for Motorhomes (1 Viewer)

Received an email this morning from Garmin promoting their new Garmin DEZL, designed for lorries and persons towing trailers, let you read it if you are interested Link Removed. Googling it suggests the price is competitive against the Snooper Ventura. Extra loud speaker to overcome the rattles and bumps! Even has an optional reversing camera, not sure how that works.

Strange name though.

We are thinking of changing our nuvi to something which has programmable vehicle size.

Google shopping has it listed between £340 - £370.

Yes, vehicle size is programmable - but are the maps any more accurate? If the maps do not contain width data then you can still get sent down too narrow a road.

OOPS... Didn't know that was a problem. Is it just garmin or all of them?

All of them. The problem is that the base data from which all companies derive their maps doesn't have road widths and the mapping companies haven't added them (except, perhaps, in a few places). So, all the software can do is go by road classification and, as we all know, some A roads can get a bit narrow in places.

I used to use a TomTom (just about to see if I can sell it as it happens) but bought a Garmin a year ago. There are differences in user interfaces and ways in which POIs can be updated, all a matter of personal preference really.
