'Iranian' attackers forge Google's Gmail credentials

Skype, Microsoft, Yahoo, Mozilla also targeted

Extremely sophisticated hackers, possibly from the Iranian government or another state-sponsored actor, broke into the servers of a web authentication authority and counterfeited certificates for Google mail and six other sensitive addresses, the CEO of Comodo said.

The March 15 intrusion came from IP addresses belonging to an Iranian internet service provider, and one of the purloined certificates was tested from the same country, said Melih Abdulhayoglu, whose company is the certificate authority used to validate the bogus web credentials. Other web addresses that were targeted included www.google.com, login.yahoo.com, login.skype.com, addons.mozilla.com, and Microsoft's login.live.com.

As much as a pain in the arse hacking is, so long as they don't work out how to send a suicide bomber down the phone line, I don't think we are too worried!

Remember, someone's misuse of your data won't get you shot or make you pregnant! And thanks to our country's economic policies, we are too skint to risk having our bank accounts cleared out- there's nothing in them!

Still a good excuse to clear out a few surplus Tomahawks which are past their 'use by date' though.............

I agree with you.

With reference to my last post, those 'past their use-by date' tomahawks are precision weapons, so hopefully those who do partake in terrorist activities would the only ones on the receiving end, not the peaceful majority of the population!

I would imagine that the 'off the cuff' remark which offended you was hopefully, actually intended as my statement above, not the blanket bombing of a whole population as a racist action.

That would be my interpretation anyway. Or am I too trusting?

I thought it was the west that were hacking their refining facility, stopped the centrifuges last year. Perhaps they are getting their own back.:Angry:
