Never been on one, are they deathly quiet, everyone acting like they are in a library. ::bigsmile: Are they full of miserable old gits who forgot they were once kids who's grandchildren hate them? Do the owners of such sites look like the childcatcher from the film Chitty Chitty bang Bang?

Anyway, point of the post, I just got asked in an email, "Are adult only sites in breach of the new ageism laws?" I have no idea, are they?

What ?

Surely they are all heavy metal. studded collars, basques, whips and lots of electric gadgets ?

Or is that a FUN meet ?

My leather thong shrank in the wash so I've not been equipped to try one.

I love Adult Only sites. The peace and quiet is wonderful. No foul mouthed little buggers kicking a ball against my van and running round and round banging on the sides. Now if only I could find some sites that don't allow kids, dogs or gennies I would be a happy chappy.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

And if you think I am a Victor Meldrew just wait for 20 years. I am not yet 40 years old :Eeek:

Nope many are busy happy sites - some are adult only because the facilities have been abused by kids - other due to the dangers of rivers or ponds cliffs etc. One I know specialises in providing meals and a quiet atmosphere - no different to any other site that for instance specialises in family holidays.. I love kids - I was one myself once :ROFLMAO: I have grandkids that I adore but when I am chlliing out I do object to having kids cycling in ever decreasing circles around the place and having balls hitting the side of the van - it strange you know when it hits the side of the parents van they go ballistic at the kids but when it hits ours it was only an accident and kids will be kids and I am a grumpy old git cause I told them to move over and go play on the motorway :Eeek::Eeek:

Good question, one I have also pondered ..

Is this a reference to the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union ?

which says

Article 21. Non-discrimination

1. Any discrimination based on any ground such as sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion or belief, political or any other opinion, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability, age or sexual orientation shall be prohibited.

Now, I've never claimed to be the quickest but, first time I saw and adult only site advertised in the C&CC book I was quite taken aback.

After a time the penny dropped:Doh:

We've not tryed one yet mind you, but no kids appeals, we've deliberatly avoided any plans in the van during the summer [STRIKE]riot[/STRIKE] kids holiday this year:thumb:

I have just been speaking to the owners of a site in France that I advertised BEFORE they went 'Adults Only' - and I asked them what difference it had made to them.

First and foremost they had to change their campsite name because 'Adult Only' campsites, as such, are not allowed in France - so they became a 'Country Club' to get around the rules.

Since they went 'Adult Only' two years ago - they have more than DOUBLED their bookings and will now not even consider going back to being a family site.

I've been to a couple and its nice to find no kids playing in the toilets and stuffing toilet rolls down the bog!!, I must say though I find it strange that although no kids allowed the tarrifs still go up and down as with school holidays. (My wife works in a school so we are committed to the price hikes). :whatthe:

We went to one in Wiltshire for a week last year. The name of the site is Plough Lane. It is excellent.

Its great not having kids marauding all over the place even though thats what kids do for a living and yes I was one.

It isnt as formal as a lot of kid friendley sites that Ive been to and the people are great, not all miserable gits.

The site at Plough Lane was outstanding anyway, kid free or not. We were so impressed with the kid free site that we have already booked a few for later in the year. (Sites that is not kids)

We've been on a few, so I agree with the other Grumpy old gits, Peace and quiet, almost civilised even.
Have also talked to the Owners, most were rapt, more bookings, less vandelism, and of course less complaints about unruly behavior.
Suits us, but we don't go out of our way to book 'em.

We absolutely love 'adult only' sites::bigsmile:. We have 2 sons (21 and 16, one already left home and one hoping to get into the RAF in the next couple of years) and we really enjoy the peace and quiet of the 'adult only' sites, it's so nice not to have to listen to kids shouting and screaming all the time especially when they arn't yours!. Also why is it that kids seem to like hanging out at the toilet/shower block, what's that all about :roflmto:

There's just not enough of the sites but hopefully in the future there will be more here and in Europe (especially in France)

Never been on one simply because I've had kids in tow since 1973 .... and another eight years before Chaz is 18 .. so I doubt I ever will ..

In saying that, never had a desire to pitch up on an adult only site .. How can you play hide and seek, fly a kite, play cricket, football etc on your own ..?

Kids, love 'em or hate 'em, they are the future our hobby .. it would be sad world without the sound of kids laughter ..

Don't go out of our way to find them, but if any are available will use them.

Must admit you get a different atmosphere, normally more friendly, no bikes all over the place etc..

The basques turned out to be incontinence pants and the electric gadgets defibrillators.
