Channel Ferry Crossing (1 Viewer)

Has anyone experience/comments on using DFDS (Norfolk Line) for the channel crossing?

I have just been looking at prices for a trip in April to May and they are quoting about half the price of the other ferry companies whose prices have shot up this year.:shout: I know this would mean going to Dunkirk instead of Calais but that is only 18 miles extra each way.

I have always used P&O in the past.

Hi Mike
We have used Norfolk Line a couple of times in the past. No problems at all for us, it is a slightly longer crossing, about 2 hours if I remember correctly. It is a freight, car, motorhome service only, no coaches or foot passengers which can be a plus. The ships were of a good standard with good facilities. Have a good trip.

Yes we found them fine and landing at Dunkerque is not a problem (as long as you can spell it!) and the distance to Calais is minimal.

There aren't many true bargains to be had, this is one of them. Have used them in the past and will do so again

Hi Mike
We have always used Norfolk line for The Dunkirk trip no prob's decent ferries:thumb:, Calais is just down the road, we are going Portsmouth to Santander on Wednesday with Brittany ferries. Pete :thumb:

Used them 11 times last year and they were half the price of the others.Best price is unsociable hours like midnight or 2 am.Its a 2 hour crossing opposed to 1hr 45mins but its quicker getting off and on than the others.Good food and free wifi on board,don't know how it is since they changed hands earlier this yar but will be finding out soon.If you book the midnight they will allow you to take the 10 pm at no extra charge.The longer you can book in advance the cheaper it is.

Been using Norfolk Line for many years..
Sadly, now DFDS has taken over they will probably not get any more of my lolly as they just ripped me a new orifice to the tune of €100 for being late !!

If you take a late crossing such as the 10pm, is there a park up place at the terminal similar to the car park at Calais?

Mike Use the tunnel, much easier and i found it cheaper

I think there are a good many free places to stay to be honest..

we have stayed a couple of times overnight at the ferry terminal. at Dover and dunkirk there are large carparks directly outside the terminal. Never been bothered and other people parked up also.
