 Hi sambaman. Welcome to MotorhomeFun. When you say it is juddering. I assume you mean the engine in is missing and not pulling smooth? This is usually down to the Electrics. ie. Distributor, plugs and leads. If it has an LPG conversion fitted? It should have a switch on the dash to switch between Petrol and LPG. If not? Then it will cost between £1500 and £5000 for a conversion depending on how many tanks and WHO does the conversion.
May your travels be many and your troubles be few. Happy Rv'ing. :winky:

Depending upon how many miles you are going to do in a year and how long you are going to keep the RV it may or may not be a god idea to go for an lpg conversion Some people can make a return on their investment in a year or so, others it might take as many as 5 years and they sell their vehicle before they get a return, but I would have thought that an LPG conversion should add a bit to the value in a resale.

Oh and welcome to the site, I hope you get the vehicle niggles sorted soonest.

Duncan is in the States at the moment, I think he is back next week though. Tony is right though, he is the man to sort out your problems, he doesn't take the mickey with his charges either.

Hi,
V10 engines do not have a conventional distributor set up - they use a coil pack on each plug, before ripping things apart I would fault code read the ECU as these engines have a sensor on both the crank and camshaft which if faulty will affect the initial ignition advance and do cause juddering under load. I've changed quite a few over the years, they're not that expensive.
If you're stuck I have a scanner for the ford V10.

 Me touchy?

All knowledge freely available on the Internet.

Two heads better than one? MMMmmm. YES. :ROFLMAO:

BUT. Do NOT always assume that the Expert knows best. It once took an expert 3 days to find out that our problem was the Plug leads. It took me 30 minutes of surfing the net to find the same answer.

IMHO the plug leads and Dizzie cap / rotor sorted mine.

Plus a set of plugs.

But mine is a conventional V8

Sorry Sambaman you have got it wrong. Eve, has no connection to Van Bitz at all. She is my Mother in law.

We didn't know that she had sold her van, until this morning. We certainly didn't carry out any maintenance on it as she used a local commercial garage. The work that Van Bitz specialise in is electrical, but not vehicle servicing and fault finding. Our workshops are just not geared up for that type of work. We even send our own vehicles out for servicing as we don't want the mess. I think the closest that it got to us, was she paid a couple of our guys to fit an alarm for her when she bought it!

In essence I just got lumbered with it parked at Van Bitz. She should never have bought it in the first place, My wife and I told her not to as it was totally unsuitable for her, and a million miles away from what we suggested that she bought. A vehicle of that size and age for a lady in her seventies was daft in our opinion, she bought it on a whim. Consequently she used it for one trip and hated it.

She paid £36,500 Summer 05 from Travelworld. She gave it to Dudleys to sell March 06 Dudleys had it for sale, with no success until Feb 07 until, she decided to try and sell it her self. From what I can gather she sold it to you, sold as seen for £15,000

That being the case, the price you paid should give you loads of scope to pay someone to sort out any electrical problems that you may have, and still have a cracking van worth loads more than you paid for it.

The only other thing that I can tell you Sambaman, is that it was driven up to Dudleys, came back on a transporter as she wouldn't drive it. It sat at Cornish Farm from the February until it was taken to MJ Auto's the commercial garage that MOT'd it and did any remedial work required to pass the test, I believe last month.
