has anyone out there succeeded in fitting seatbelts to a talisman auto sleeper.we are new to this and need some advice

Depends where you want to fit them, It should come with 2 already in the front

Hi a bit more info please ie forward facing rear/dinnett, side facing, rear facing etc, for whom, adults? children? Dogs?

seat belts should be fitted to the chassis or a purpose built outrigger/frame fixed to the chassis.

no good fitting them to the wooden floor or foam/plastic/ply wood body panels.

very unlikely you will find anyone to do the work as they would then be responsible for your passengers safety.

When you have spent as many years weld repairing rotten seat belt mounts as i have you soon realise its not rocket science, Ihave fitted and repaired hundreds, I have even crsh tested my own race car at 50mph with a fifteen foot high roll over ouch! but im still here, set belts intact,
What you say is quite right and i have seen them bolted to cupboard in some self builds
Any competent mechanic/welder/person (old school) dont go to quick fitoh: will be able to fabricate something, but as ever its going to be at a price
As you may have already read on here, side faceing belts are a waste of time, unsutable for children and adults alike, these seats should be considered as none traveling/stationary seats only:thumb:
For the record there is no testable standard that is applied at MoT time, other than a secure fixing, which i interpret as a reinforced metal section of the floor / chassis door piller etc

thanks for your reply. the camper has side seats. the body is fibre glass, we ourselves are fibreglass engineers.we could alter the seats to become rear facing and possibly use the front belt fitting to anchor.the seats would be for our grandchildren, and would not be used very often. any further comments would be much appreciated.

Not compulsory for rear or side facing seats...still advisable though (not side facing....too dangerous) :thumb:

Side facing seat belts are as much use as a handbrake on a canoe, they inflict spinal injuries in the case of a accident, they are not recommended

Hi littlehouse, They are not required on the side facing seats and if you move the seating to rear facing -again not required - they would not work oh: (only to stop people from moving around in the van) seatbelts stop forward motion in the event of a sudden stop - this would be done by the seat back in rear facing :thumb:
What do you make in F/G ? may be handy for us self builders :thumb:
