Dell pentium 4
160gb hard drive
1gb RAM

Bought in jan 2004
Now have a seagate 512gb external harddrive to put all my photos etc on.

No problems at all but just updated my video card as the original one wasn't supported by some games.

Laptop

Pentium 4 M 1.7Ghz Toshiba Satellite from about 2001 in use every day and has been very reliable. Helen is using it as I type. RRP then was about £1500.

It's a bit like Trigger's broom though. ::bigsmile:

Upgraded HDD to 40gb, replaced CD-RW drive for a DVD-RW drive, upgraded ram from 256 MB to 512 MB then 1 GB, added a wifi card. Replaced XP Home with Linux Mint 8 then 9 now 10. Hinges are lose but still going strong.

10 year old Advent

Heck that's good for an Advent, better than this HP DV2000 which has just had a new motherboard at less than 3 years old.

Oldest computer is a 1999 Blue & White G3 PowerMac (my first Mac) which runs old software I still need to use and serves files.

Main computer (this laptop) is a slightly dented 2008 17" MacBook Pro.

I have an HP laptop that I have had for a few years good reliable unit that satisfies my needs. However, for the game enthusiasts among you, I have a games machine that my son shipped over from the US when he had a new unit built recently. I'm told that it is very good for gaming, all that I can say is that it is lightning fast for my office and internet use. :thumb:

Don't know when we bought it, but brought it with us from Australia, in 2000.
It's just been upgraded to Electric (from oil lamp) and it's got several water stains on the case, and someone called "NOAH" has carved his name in the mahogany casing:thumb:

I use this HP Pavilion DV2000 2 Core for gaming, Unreal Tournament (yes I know I'm sad and still a big kid ) and it just about copes. When it died just before Christmas I bought a £200 MSI U135 netbook with XP  (when it's out of warranty it's getting Linux Mint 10). As soon as I put UT on it, it crashed. It just couldn't cope. Not really surprised as it's only an Atom. Great for camping though.

Hi

The NAS is a great bit of kit, mine is an Iomega from PC World. I am able to access it from anywhere in the world, even from my iPad!! It has about 25000 very big pics - shot at 10.4 mp - on it and there is still plenty of room.

Now a year - cant believe it!
Not sure how old the 'big' one is upstairs? We rarely use it now, as its hard to get hold of the smokeless fuel to fire it up nowadays.:ROFLMAO:o

I'm running this 3 year old HP on hot silicon :ROFLMAO: was still running even though something on the bus burnt out, had to hot wire it with the battery (unplug it and replug it live). Couldn't have been a major component but you try and find which one had gone, be like looking for a needle in a hay stack then you'd need a miracle to replace the component. Think I should stick to gas. Took me an hour and a half to replace the motherboard.
