Right,

Full whinge coming up. Thank you very much all of you people who advised me to get Gas Low fitted.

What a waste of effing time in Spain!!!!

Just been to Malaga petrol station at j 244 on A7 and asked for LPG pump & got ' Its a mistake, meester, Did you see it on the internet? Its a mistake meester.'

No LPG and half a dozen vans queueing up to fill up with non existant LPG.

Of course we all filled up with petrol! What a surprise & scam.

Has anyone ever filled up with LPG in Spain or is it all a bloody shambles. I suspect so.

Why is Spain the only country in modern Europe that can't supply LPG?

Answers please on a £5 note to pissed off in Cabopino.

Hi.

I cannot comment on gas flow but if you are talking about lpg as in road fuel we filled up five weeks ago at Barcelona and Alicanti I also met people who filled up at Vallencia and Murcia plus I found the lpg was verry reasonably priced I would certainly use them stations again next year..

LPG is a bit scarce in Spain but it is to be found, try the link below;

I filled up in Granada on Saturday, the stations need hunting for as they are usually not petrol stations, if it helps I have created a .csv file of them all for uploading to Garmin SAT Navs.

Good hunting

I posted that message, April 2009.

Don't you feel a fool wandering round looking for a non-existent pump.

I can guarantee that this station was open last summer, but they did not have a Spanish adapter so if you don't have one you may have problems...

It also has 16 stations for Portugal....with all the same info as above....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

which of these are close to you GRANADA...Bobadilla:Eeek:
Juez de la Frontera...Cadiz:Eeek:
Sevilla....:Eeek:

I have the sat cordinations out of the book ATAISAP:thumb:

Filled up at Repsol in Alacanti N38 18.154 W000 31.682 Forcourt type of station 2 gas pumps (no petrol).

One pump has Euro pump nozzle, other one has the same fitting as we use in the UK cost 0.619 euro a litre.

I have the Euro adaptor and it wouldn't work. It only allowed 3 litres into my tank before it cut off. I moved onto the other pump with the UK style adaptor and was able to put another 37 litres in the tank. The station attendant also takes vehicle details and records them on a sheet.

There is another at Murcia but it has difficult access and height barrier.

It is a four hour round trip for us to go to Alacanti from near Categena but it keep the old girl fit for the return trip. We will propably have to do this trip at least 3 times during our stay. It would be about 3 hours round trip to Murcia.

Spain has been hot on LPG since the LPG road tanker crash at Barcelona (El Toro Bravo beach and camping site) in 1969 where many people were burnt (many killed) on the beach by the burning ball of gas rolling down the beach from the crash. Even those in the sea didn't escape and were badly burn where their body was out of the water.

I will try the other Malaga station.

I might be reading this in the wrong way but it seems to me to be a bit harsh to condemn a refillable gas system because a garage in Malaga didn't have any gas...

I find the Gaslow system excellent... economic and convenient... I would recommend it to anyone wanting to be able to top up their gas easily and with no lifting and lugging of bottles...

JJ :winky:

Hi was the station just north of Malaga on or near the A7? If so that was wrongly reported for sometime, and is on some autogas poi's and books. There used to be another in Malaga its self, but that closed sometime back, that may also be still in some poi's and books.

The only one as far as I know is the recently opened (2008?) at
Calle de Concepcion Arenal as Jim has said.

GPS: 36.69028,-4.483045
Normal service station recently fitted with Autogas.
Be warned this station has the new Euronozzel
Alan has reported that they have Bayonet-Euronozzel adaptors to lend only. Without an adaptor you will not be able to fill your tanks.

Hi

The problem is that if, for example like us, you are in Spain for up to 6 months with only Gaslow and you run out, then, if you are not close to one of their 21 LPG points you could have to travel up to 100kms or more to top up and then find the place shut or stopped supplying or the adaptor is not compatible! It's too limiting for Spain. I shall be replacing one with a swappable.

The system is great for the rest of Europe but for Spain just not reliable enough. Especially when a lot of their campsites charge for electricity.

Spain has over 40 Stations where you can buy Autogas, see my map here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie...488872017056350.00045c0c2ec92a3f46ca4&t=h&z=6

Don't know why people keep picking on Spain, :roflmto:Greece, Denmark, Switzerland and Austria are no better.

Olley

I can vouch for Austria being appalling for LPG. 16 places in the entire country - load of pants. The garage I found in Salzburg wasn't a filling station but a mechanics yard and a right squeeze getting a 25ft van close enough to be filled up - the pump was behind his stash of gas bottles and a couple of old VW's, but they were very helpful despite speaking no english at all. It's been easy to find everywhere else except Luxembourg.

Ahhh. I see the problem...

...I never stay in one place for so long and therefore this problem does not affect me... always top up my Gaslow bottles when the opportunity arises... some thing you can't do (safely) with exchange ones. I only fill those when they are empty.

Repsol website says they are planning to open another 20 Autogas stations this year.

We did a 268k round trip and paid 12.80€ in tolls to fill our tank in Alicanti. We are going to get a bottle and feed it in through the barbecue point. There was a closer station in Murcia but I have seen a report of a height barrier. Planning to check it out before taking the motorhome to it just in case as it looks to be tight access.

I will be fitting an "extendastay" before next winter.

Repsol won't supply gas unless you have an empty cylinder or pay between 160 to 200€ for an installation check by one of there engineers to get one. Cepsa don't require this and the bottles are lighter being aluminium.

Hi John its not a "height" barrier as such, just the metalwork to hold the top rail of the sliding door gear. See here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie...Hq_16kM43AoBnxJDOu1mvQ&cbp=12,323.84,,0,-1.09

I would guess a eurovan would get under, but maybe no an RV.

Olley

Hi Olley

I had a look on Google Earth and decided not to risk it. I am just under 3m high so I decided to check it out first. The Diesel and Tolls came to about the same as the gas, so making it about the same as a bottle per litre.

I have updated my Earth entry with your info. Many thanks.
