As some of may have noticed I asked if anyone was having trouble uploading messages with quotes in them. well I have cure that problem but thought that I may be course of my own problems.

So the question is do you log off the site before you shutdown or do you do as I do, and that is to close the window without logging off?

I never log off, just close the window. Sometimes I don't even bother and just click on "shut down" and let the machine do it. :thumb:

I read somewhere that if everyone in the UK switched off their computers when they weren't using them and switched off the telly rather than keeping it on standby we would save a couple of power stations...:thumb:

I am a good boy and switch everything off...

I always log off.
I read somewhere a book on internet security which scared me to death.
I've forgotten what it said exactly ( Just my age y'know ) but it was something about leaving your machine on, it could be used as a slave machine???? or something like that?????

i never log off 'fun' unless some problem or other does it for me...usually a 'fun' server problem.

i only log off confidential websites....online banking, paypal etc not 'social' websites.

Thanks all, it would seem that although logging off has so far cured 2 problems for me its not the course of the problems in the first place.

Had the new posts page open for about a month now. Just refresh it when I want to see whats been happening.

Tend to hibernate the machine when not in use and reboot when patches require it to be done.
