meos lcd tv/dvd (1 Viewer)

Hi folks. Just about made up my mind to opt for a MEOS 15.4" TV of the above type, can anyone tell me if we are about to buy a disaster or a good piece of kit ? ? Cant really justify the AVTEX at an extra 120 squid. Your input will be greatly appreciated. PS the cheapest I have found is £229.

Opinions vary a lot on whether you need a buy a specialist TV.

Personally bought a 15" standard LCD TV (cost a £100) that takes a regulated 12 volts supply via a transformer from mains. This then enabled me to purchase a 12v regulated cigarette type connection to use when on 12 volts, although in theory I could use this also on hook up.

I bought one from ASDA...It's not 12v but then again I will never use the MH without hook up anyway...has a dvd player and cost under £100...bargain

Yes it is a standard LCD TV with DVD, freeview etc. Cost me £100 from Makro.

Its a Akura 15.5HD APLDVD150668.

The main thing to check if buying like this is if the output from the power supply is 12volts.

I then purchased one of Link Removed from marlins to use on 12volts. Just make sure the rating of your chosen TV just not exceed 3 amps to use this adapter. There are other adapters you can purchase with a higher rating.

Ive had a Meous 20" LCD with DVD Player etc for a couple of years. It runs of 110V or 230V. It plugs into my 12V socket in the MH.

Ive never had a problem with it, for me its been a great piece of kit.

We bought our's new from fleabay who do special offers on them every now and again, wedodigital is the other mainstream outlet.

Sorry but I cant remeber how much it was and I'm not at home to have look.

As said above there's a lot of debate about which are the best telly's, a lot pf people like the Avtex.

You can buy a voltage regulator for around £30 that will run the tv direct from 12v - no extra power is used, as in inverters, as the LCD tv draws only 12v of power.

To ensure this, look at the back of the TV/ or transformer box on the power lead. It should say 240i n 12v out.

Cheaper to replace, and often a bigger screen. Supermarket ones come with dvd and all the computer capabilities of the expensive specific ones.

we just bought a cheepy from asda with built dvd player around 100 squid I think. It has a 12v power supply to plug in to mains but I just made up a lead to 12v supply in van (no regulator) worked fine for the past 3years :thumb:

We bought the Meos 15.4" TV/DVD player and we are very pleased with it indeed. The picture is crisp and it has a wide viewing angle.

HI folks. Just a note to say Ta for all the advice etc re the above. Decided in the end to buy a viual innovations LCD 15.4" TV/DVD 12 volt from "Richer sounds" for £99.99 and paid an extra £ 9.99 for 5 years warranty. It is excellent, but you must be in the same horizontal plane for best picture, but two people sat 6 feet apart can view it very well no probs. Bought a regulated 12 volt supply to run from a fag lighter but will chop of the end and put a twin flat bladed one to go next to the shelf where the tv outlet is.
