Hi, if you had a towbar you would be better off with a Thule I forget what weight ours will take but a lot lower to lift on to, most people take the batteries out when on the rack. We have a Thule on my car. :thumb: Bob.

Hi David, what a shame they are too heavy. Did you contact the company, and do they have any more available, I wouldn't mind one of those myself.

Best wishes to Brenda for tomorrow, we hope the operation goes well.

Be warned, its not unknown for the weight of a bike rack to pull the fastening through the wall of the M/H, I know because it has happened to me.

I saw Folding electric bikes being demonstrated at the Cheshire motorhome show but couldn,t get near enough to try them, however I got a brochure and a couple of weeks later we were staying at Warwick and realised only 10 miles from their address, gave them a call and was invited round for test drive, anyway they are folding cycles, 20" wheels with 6 speed shimano gears, weigh about 23Kg. I bought 2 and folded they fit inside my MH (Elddis Autoquest 120). Look up their site asbikes.co.uk the're brilliant! or call 02476303228

Hi DSHAGUE,
The battery weighs about 2Kg, but to save a little bit more weight the saddle and stem can be easily removed as well.

fitted to a door its weighing on a single skin metal panel...the hinges will take a lot more weight than a couple of bikes on a rack but the panel will bend and crease.

back wall of a motorhome may be 2" thick with a ply inner skin and usually theres a specific mounting point reinforced with a wood batton.

I saw this on the back of a small motorhome in Germany and thought it was very handy, you can still open your back doors.:thumb: Stick a bike rack on that and your sorted. ::bigsmile: Bob.

Most off-the-shelf towbars have a limit to the weight they can carry on the ball and, for cars, its usually only a75 - 100 kg.

I have a van conversion and there is also a limit to the load that can be carried by the towbar mounting points and this is also quite low.

If you have a bespoke towbar fitted to a motorhome with a chassis extension then I assume it's any body's guess as to what loads can be carried on the towball.

I am often staggered by the weight people actually carry on their towbars.

Got the type of MH that has the garage and the extension on the back.. Tow bar has a maximum nose weight ability of 80 kilos

We bought a couple of the lecy bikes from Peter ( he does most of the shows and usually with his daughter )
No issues apart from self inflicted and peter has been good enough to supply bits to us for free !!
Electric Bikes Ltd is the company I believe
