woo hoo Jan, this is a sore point since we locked ourselves out of the MH in a picnic area this year. Thankfully, a wonderful French man contacted a garage who sent a mechanic out, who reached us withi 30 mins. What a great bloke. He went back to the garage to get a special drill, finally got the door open and wouldn't take a penny. Needless to say, we gave him a dropsy but I really cannot express my gratiitude to him.

We always take both sets of keys with us and I always try to remember to take my set out with me. It is usually kept in my handbag but don't rely on each other. Just try always to have a set with you.

Hi there and welcome to the Fun...

Some people wrap a spare door key in an oily piece of cloth in small plastic bag wrapped up with electrical tape and tape the resultant water-proof package to some part of the van's chassis.

Then they hide the ignition key some where inside the van...

Obviously I wouldn't do this otherwise Funsters would hunt under my Wagon at meets... find the door key, illegally enter the vehicle and tidy it...

Hi Jan, :welcome: to motorhome fun.:thumb: We being myself and Jane have a set of keys each so the answer:Smile: is yes.............But its not wise to leave a spare set of keys in the van, your insurance company may not pay out if its stolen.

Enjoy the fun. Bob. flyingwelcome

On board safe. You can keep your spare (basic set) keys in here with cards etc.

If you loose you keys, breakdown cover will send someone out to get into the vehicle. Once in, you have your spare set of keys in a safe, be this digital or combination. Hide the safe somewhere discrete, under a bed/seat behind the water tank or similar and fix down.

If you keep a spare card or cash there - you have money to get home if a bag/coat is stolen.:thumb:

(If someone takes the motorhome, you are stuffed anyway....)

Yuch, how disgusting.

And worse, if your friend with the rubber gloves isn't around how do you get them ?
