Fan heater (1 Viewer)

On our last trip of the year, last week up to the west of scotland our little plug in fan heater got some stick. As a result of it being used to keep Wife, Grandson and three dogs toasty warm it has given up the ghost. In fact to use a technical expression its kaput.

Plenty on the market from just over a tenner and yes I prefer a fan heater, quick heat and can also be used as a fan (it'is in the name).

Any preference or advice.

No sorry Im being dumb...its a spanish girls first name isnt it???

Third time lucky....in my limited experience of heating, I think the massive plus side tick, goes to a heater with a frost setting. Comes in useful if you havent winterised yet and ya not ready to pasrk it up for the winter.

I bet that eats up the power? need to be on a good mains hook up to run that size.. I bet it does heat up the motor home... big enough to heat a factory:Blush:

That one Goldwinger has put a link to is the same as the one we have.. Had it for about 3 years now and yep, it gets a lot of stick !!

But................

I paid £9.99 for mine in B n Q or some such and have recently seen them at the same price somewhere..

Anddddd..

Our Thermostat did not work.. took it back and swapped it.. same again.. Third time and it still did not work but we gave up and just turn it off !

I worry about fire and fan heaters can cause fire if quilt covers or something falls on them.
Ive gone the iccle oil filled radiator route myself....just to take the edge off when sleeping.

My firnace on the rv is very effidient but sounds like a jumbo jet engine.

So my focus is insulation as well as those roof vents are just thin plastic and the heat loss is massive through those.

They even sell special plugs to insulate em...amazing

Any preference or advice.

Make sure you get one with 2 heat settings. The ones suggested 1000/2000W give you a better chance on site with 4A and 8A current so you can have a bit of warmth on a 6A feed.

We got one last year from Dunelm it was £6.99 when we first saw it, 2 heat heatings and thermostat. We went to buy it at the end of winter just in case we needed one in early spring and found it reduced to half price £3.49. Used it every day during October half-term, was brilliant.
