Hi all
In our local paper tonight there is a article about a Iveco Van parked on Luton road over night had the Exhaust and Catalytic converter stolen, so just a word of warning nothing is safe if the scrots want it, Brought to mind several years ago a customer of mine lost his radiator, In a multi story car park in Blackpool. Pete :Sad::Sad:

obviously stolen for the cat convertor alone....if they cant get it off they'll hacksaw the pipe either side and reweld at their leisure.

and how can you secure an exhaust.

4 and many as a tugger
They dont steal them because they need one for a MOT. It is because of the precious metal content in the Cat

exactly as andy says, some scrap cats are worth up to £130 purely as scrap , i hear tales from my customers almost every week about cats being stolen. but the good news for diesel drivers is if your motor is running anything like right ,you should easily pass the emmisions test without a cat. i have personaly tested many diesel vans with the cats removed ,and no problem passing the the test.but it is a different story for petrols:thumb:

This was quite common a few years ago, cats are worth more scrap than ever before - around £200 in some places...so they go walkies!

There are devices that will secure your cat, i was selling them a few years ago.

4x4s and vans seem the common target, purely I guess because you can crawl under easily, unlike a 'normal' car.
