I have a couple of leisure batteries in my rig,, the last few times going out to check the solar panel has shut down,, and the batteries have been flat (Not the engine one)..

I presume the two batteries are naff,, I think they are original (6 - 7 years old) is it the norm for the solar to shut down ?

If I start the engine the solar will start to charge but stop engine and a few minutes later it shuts down (Solar)

Do you think they have had it?

I read a thread where some one was recommending a battery supplier,, I have trolled through the old threads but cannot find the thread, does any one remeber this thread or did you write or answer in it?

I need two the ones with the round lump of lead and also that has got a separate nut for securing the wires.

Thanks.

Also you dont have to buy batteries with the extra lug for wires, battery terminals with this extra bit on are available, and are really the norm
Me thinks its only the Yanks or specialist battery makers that make the type you have

Hi Mo

maybe my recommendation ?

http://www.lincon.co.uk/

I spoke to Bill the manager, very helpful.. they are in Southend on Sea in Essex... it is a case of collection. They do Marine Batteries and deep cycle batteries.

I have ordered for collection at the end of the month a couple of 105 amps to fit my limited space.. Rolls from Canada.. ÂŁ84.61 plus vat each... very helpful company.

I trust you have checked the fuse between Solar and Batteries. I had similar problem and it was the fuse, cheaper than Batteries.

Thanks for that suggestion Don,, I would not know where to start looking for the fuse..

I should think that the battery`s have had it,, seem to remember the odd occasion we have been on battery for a few hours they did not last long..

Thanks.

I suppose i should have asked if it was a permanent Solar Panel or one of those stow a ways.
The permanent one comes into a regulator, from that to the Battery with a fuse between Regulator and Battery.
My Son in Law had same prob, again we found fuse tucked away behind the Battery.

Thanks Don,,,, It is a fixed on the roof,, about the size of a front door.. checked all round and bearing in mind I am pretty sure it is the original batterys,, about 6-7 years old, I cannot see any thing that looks untoward,, checked all the fuses I could find etc.. Will try a couple of new battery`s.

Cheers.
