Hi all,

We have just bought a Springdale 5th wheel by Keystone in Florida. We are shipping it home this month, Oct. Who knows a really good insurance company that will insure our new baby?

Many thanks,
James & Stella

Hi
Camptons and Scenic were the two most competitive companies when we insured our 5th wheel earlier this year. Camptons cover the whole outfit (truck and 5th wheel) as a job lot and provide cover at market value. Scenic will cover the 5th wheel seperately and provide new for old cover but are a bit more expensive.

Best wishes John

We used Camptons also to insure our 5th wheel & Pickup. They insist that you have a Tracker fitted and Hitch Lock.

Hello, we went with Scenic mainly because of the "new for old" facility (as we had bought a new trailer) and secondly to insure the trailer seperately.
They were fairly particular about the anti-theft systems and specified either a Phantom Tracker or ALKO wheel clamp system. This type of wheel clamp fits most conventional caravans but is unlikely to fit the fifth wheel wheels, and wouldn't fit ours. This left the Phantom system, as it turned out this system has a number of features which appealed to us and we decided to have one fitted. Their stipulations may have become more flexible but it is probably a good idea to check the specifics with them.

We insured through Camptons and wanted a Tracker Fitted and also a Hitch Lock
Rather than a hitch lock we went for a king pin stablizer which is also lockable rang camptons esxplain what it was they just asked for a pic of the stablizer and copy of invoice for it all sorted. And the stablizer does stop the front rocking::bigsmile:

We had the phantom tracker fitted, the system blew the first motion sensor had to wait for a few weeks for a new one to be fitted.

We left the campsite in sussex on 15th Sept on 18th we received a Alarm.motion alert from tracker to say our vehicle has been moved. Not bad service 3:ROFLMAO: d days to tell me ny 5th wheel has been moved, AND ITS NOW IN PORTUGAL

Hi, we also experienced some very frustrating teething problems with the Phantom system. We had gone with the Phantom Tracker/Sargent alarm, combination. This comes with a remote control to arm/disarm the system. Although the whole system is supplied by Phantom who provide technical support for the Tracker bit they don't provide the same for the alarm and one has to go to Sargent for that. Eventually after some persistent nagging, and one of Phantoms fitters coming out to rectify some installation errors it appears to be working fine. We have set the alarm off accidently a few times and within a few minutes have been contacted by Phantom (by phone and text) to let us know they have picked up an alert and they can tell us exactly where we are and our current speed.
With our system it should be disarmed while travelling or the motion sensor will be triggered. We have discovered, however, (during one false alarm) that it is easy to unintentionally arm the system if there is any pressure on a very sensitive remote control by eg. putting it in a trouser pocket.
A really good feature of this system is that it sends an alert when the trailer battery is running down (very useful during winter storage) so you can charge it up before it becomes depowered and ineffective.

Best wishes John
