Hi Khufu, and welcome :thumb: If it is a new van get it back to the dealer ASAP :thumb: If you bought it second hand it is down to you  Try taking a couple of pics to let us see the damage ? then we can advise on the repair to the van side or roof

welcome to the fun, Khufu.

sorry cant help with the fix but it sounds like it was badly fitted and has allowed a considerable amount of water ingress which has rotted the sidewall plywood at that point.

really dont know what the fix would be but it sounds as though it could be extensive and expensive.

welcome and oh dear

Welcome to the site, and at the same time o'dear that does not sound to good.

Having a yank we do not suffer this kind of problem, but I have come across it a few times. Bad fitting, screws that are not sealed and water ingress until you hit a bump and then the awning gives along with the body work.

You need to let our fellow members know more.. i.e new or how old, did you buy it from a deal etc.,

If it is the worse case senario that you have no recourse you need to get the awning removed as soon as possible and the damaged are repiared before the awning is reinstalled.

Anyway, wish you luck with the problem.

Welcome to fun and waht a disastrous event.

Was the awning extended at the time and, if so had it got full of rainwater and placed an excessive amount of weight on to the awning itself. I remember seeing this happen at the Lincoln Show several years ago when we were haveing a bad summer. Luckily the damage wasn't as bad as you describe.

I would suggest you remove or arrenge to get the remainder of the awning removed ASAP to reduce any further damage.

Ours is bolted straight through the side at 3 points with aluminium plates spreading the loads inside the cupboards inside.

Sounds like yours wasn't fitted properly.
