Canon EOS 50D DSLR (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I have just been offered a Canon EOS 50D DSLR with a 70-300 lens on it for £275 ? mate wants to upgrade - looks in v good cond and takes nice pics all boxes and instructions -- is this a good buy ? or should I stick with my old camera Panasonic fz5 as it is simple to use for me :thumb: just put it on the nice heart shape and away I goes :thumb:

That's a good price. You would have trouble getting one cheaper from a bloke down the pub.

same model of Nikon I have.. different lens.. I say it's a good buy :thumb:

but would need a wider lens for landscapes ..

I have an 18 - 70 and a 50 - 200 lens

Did you say he was a mate?

Do a search on ebay, but search for completed listings that have sold, (you will have to log in to do that) you will see that plenty have D50s have sold for more

So does that make it a good buy ? or should I stick with my Panasonic

If you are happy with the pictures from the Panasonic, then stick with it. :thumb:

It depends on what you have invested in your Panasonic...lenses, flash...etc. If you just have the body and one lens then the Nikon is a good bet and a starter for adding more kit.

I personally would stick with the panasonic. You have the zoom capabiltiy there without having to change the lens and you're used to it.

Keep fancying a small HD camcorder :thumb: Does anyone know, could I take stills from the movie mode ? ie take a few mins of footage then clip a still out of it ? I nearly always miss the shots I want would that work ?

And in doing so you have a camera better than used by photographers for the first 100 years of photography and there were some staggering pictures taken in those times.

So as I see it, the only thing limiting your photographic ambitions is you.

I have a relatively old Fuji similar to yours, I can't be arsed to carry all the lenses these days and this produces results better than a lot of my old 35mm slides.
