The Wagon engine fired up at 11.08 am this morning after its operation!

The clutch works...

The gearbox works in 1st and reverse...

Works now stops at (12.30) today as it is the local village sports' day and my Chief Mechanic/Engineer is President of that Sports' Day.

He can't finish off the work as he has to give out the prizes...

Progress Report...

Wagon purred out of the JCD Repairs facility at 4.35pm today, turned left and headed towards South Wales for Welsh Cakes cakes collection duties. Up through the gears it went as smooth as a baby's bottom with WD 40 on it.

It is like driving a brand new van... goes like a dream! Thank you John, Kath and Gareth for all your sterling work.

After a coffee and chat with Peter H and with the cakes on board, the Wagon headed for deeper Wales and is now outside our blessed Leader (may his name be praised) Jim's mansion. Sion (our blessed Leader's Boss) made me a coffee and I tucked into two delicious homemade gooseberry jam pastry cakes.

Now posting this and then to bed given that all the above has been achieved with a stinking headache as a result of being forced to down beers and more beers yesterday at the sports' day.

Tomorrow is badge making and marquee checking...

Some photos of the Preventitive Maintenence Programme just carried out on the Wagon by JCD Repairs of Sennybridge, Wales.

The gearbox man could not overhaul my noisy gear box (well worn lay and mainshaft and bearings) in time and so supplied a second hand one about which we knew nothing. He had opened it up and reported that it looked ok.

I have just driven it for 150 odd kilometres and is seems fine... will still get a price for overhauling my old box though...

On examination it turned out that the clutch cable did not have much longer left alive...

JJ

PS. The kitten has nothing to do with the job... just Jim and Sion's latest visitor and is posted here for the softees (and girls who are not into vehicle maintenance...)
