We would love to go up to the west coast of Scotland for our 5/6 week trip next year. The only problem is, last time we were there, so many years ago we cannot remember when we went

Those damm
midges ate us alive!!!

We usualy set off mid May returning June
Anyone able to advise us if this is a reasonable time to go?

Caravan & motorhome 45 + yrs
We had six weeks up there a couple of years ago, all of April and a week or two of May did not get bit once,, and only a few days of rain,, it was "Booootiful"

Quiet campsites and not a lot of traffic,, all up the West coast over the top and down the East coast,, one of the best trips we have ever had.. :thumb:

Since before Motorhomefun
I was planning on maybe taking the caravan to Scotland or have ferry booking on hold could do France.

Midge bites and my poor blood circulation sounds not such a good plan after all.

I used to cut a leg out of Junes tights and stick that over me head. There used to be a long tail hanging down my back because the tights were to big :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Last went to the West Coast April until/June midges only started to anoy us about the last couple of weeks in June and not to bad then. We have now been in Scotland on the east coast for 3 weeks and have not seen a midge even though we are quite high up and by locks. We are quite amazed because we have been in our T shirts most of the time and only seen 3 or 4 showers since we have been away, so will definately be back a great place to explore.::bigsmile:

I remember cutting a leg out of my wifes tights and putting it on my head
seemed a bit kinky at the time

Worked a treat, but one of the wifes legs got bitten to bits:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
