Morning Funsters... what a beautiful (hot) day here in Central Portugal.

Thing is my fridge (old electrolux 3 way) is struggling a bit... a few of the burgers in the freezing compartment were thawing a little this morning after the fridge being on mains all night. (might have to cook more than planned for breakfast.)

Is is ok to run her on 220 volts and gas at the same time?

Will this improve the old girl's performance?

Read somewhere (the manual?) that this might not be good but what manual knows more than the Funsters...?

JJ

PS I have switched on the retro fitted "assisting fan" and the gas...

Personally would not run on both, would tend to leave on gas, I know that Lab's used to use gas fridges as they got colder don't know if this applies to caravan fridges, or is still the case.

JJ, I've heard this said before, ie more efficient on gas. I doubt you could run gas and lecy at the same time and if you could I can't see it helping or doing the fridge any good. Give it a run on gas and see how it is then?

Thanks for all the help. I checked manual and it clearly states NOT to run on gas and mains. So now am on gas only with fan running.

Have moved my fresh milk into the studio kitchen fridge so cornflakes time is safe. (Cornflakes and warm milk... Yuuukkkkkk)

Burgers in freezing compartment ok!

If it is struggerling says to me air block, I would if you can take it out and leave it upside down for 1/2 a day and refit it then leave it again for awhile and it should cure the problem.. Old trick we always used at the caravan workship always worked ::bigsmile:

There must be a happy compromise somewhere JJ

Lynda turned ours full up and now the milk does not flow out any more and cornflakes with two lumps just aint right. No idea what the beef burgers are like as freezer compartment door is frozen solid shut.
Might have to go to local pub tonight in order that we do not go to bed hungry.

Thanks for the tip... I have used it for many, many years... The fridge was freezing my oranges in the ordinary part of the fridge last week when it was cooler than 35 C outside!!!

I will report on how it does now it is on gas only... (last week was on mains only...)

A cooling question

Hi, you could always put your milk in a bucket of water to help keep it cool?
