Hi Everyone, My partner and myself have just bought a motor home so we can have a holiday whenever we feel like it. We are both pensioners and thought it would be great to just take off for the weekend at any time. What a shock we got when we arrived in blackpool, were we go regulary in the car for days and found that we could'nt park on the prom.. then we went to llandudno and it was slightly better but we couldnt stay the night. I has really taken the fun out owning this beautiful house on wheels. We have paid our road tax just like the car drivers. ( anyone want to buy a motorhome) :ROFLMAO:

Hi and Welcome
next time find a nice quiet spot by a river or lake, you will find that a lot of seaside parking with a motorhome is no longer allowed/tolerated, blame those that went before when instead of parking for a few hours or a day then moving on they stayed till they outstayed the welcome for all

Hi Anne, Please don't be put off too easily. If you had driven along the sea front in the Southport direction there are a few wild camping places. Also, once you are a bit more confident you will probably feel up to asking in local pubs if they don't mind you staying in their car park overnight if you are having a drink in there.... And as Maggie says, go into the countryside and the sky can be your limit.

Hi ann1e
flyingwelcome

Don't let your first trip put you off, you just got the place wrong,

Best try smaller places or outskirts of popular spots, you just have to learn to be a motorhomer and think like we do. You will then find it is as much fun as you thought.

Best of luck.

Welcome to the world of motorhomes and the most informative site on the web.

We had the same problem on our first trip to Yarmouth (Norfolk), too narrow bays along the front but places can be found in side streets or by asking locally, just make sure you're not booked while you are away asking.

Motorhomes, caravans, trailer tents or plain camping are all a compromise and each has its pros and cons. At least with your motorhome you can pull up in all weathers and put the kettle on or have forty winks, or anything else that takes your fancy with no hassle "setting up".

If you want to do towns and cities research the parking options before you go or find a site with bus connections nearby and make use of the bus pass before the blighters take it away from us in their hour of need.

Early days, you'll soon get the hang of it.:thumb:
