trying to find sites open in October France (1 Viewer)

Hi there, first post on and hopeing for some help!!

The other half myself and 2 dogs are escaping to france for 4 weeks mid october. We dont have a conventional camper van just a large van kitted out with the things we need. We havent a clue where we are heading just looking forward to time off in a country we love! There was mention on the forum a while back about campsites open all year.

Sorry but I havent managed to work out search options to find list promised on a post so could someone point me to list of Sites open 365. We are planning a bit of stealth camping but are realistic enough to know that we will have to go to some sites over the month period.

Splash out on the ACSI card and DVD. Massive number of sites listed with their opening periods. And discounts to be had at that time of year.

please excuse my ignorance but! is this part of a sat nav or just a computer based dvd?? if dvd then ideal however we dont have sat nav technology!

Difficult to help if you don't know where you are going. We usually stay in aires but we also stay in a great site at Beaune .
Camping Les Bouleaux
Vignoles
Beaune
Burgundy
21200 it has a heated toilet block and is open all year and is good for the route to the South

The ACSI book lists many sites offering reduced prices and you can make good savings.

Windows DVD program. It lists thousands (9000?) of EU camp sites with a really good map program. I think it even does route planning.

You need to buy the ACSI book as well to get the discount card. Of course you can just buy the book but that only has the 1000 (?) or so discount sites.

The discount card only lasts 12 months but since campsites don't change that much you can get a few years out of the DVD.

We use aires in France but quite agree that going for a few weeks you'll need the odd site!
ACSI definitely the way to go!

Use the Aires then just pop into the odd site you find open for a night or two. The ASCI sounds good though.:thumb:

Bob & Di, who are funsters own and run "Parc Verger" you will not wish to meet a lovely couple and have a superb Campsite in one of the prettiest parts of France.. :thumb:

But it depends on how far you want to go into France..

You wont need to do stealth camping in France. Your allowed to park overnight legally just about anywhere.

Get a Sat Nav (they are really cheap now) and then you can download points of interest so you can easily find campsites, Aires, Petrol stations, all sorts as well as your way around France of course

Get this book http://www.all-the-aires.com/index.htm Nearly every town or village has an "Aire" where they set asside a place just for camper vans with water and waste disposal and sometimes electricity. Usually they are free or a couple of euros for services. This website is the Aires bible http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm

Most towns will have a municiple campsite some of which are really nice and they are always cheap. Probably well under a tenner that time of year.

We are not involved with ACSI, sadly, because we do not meet their requirements, which are a minimum of 40 pitches (we have 25) or if smaller are a farm site! We had two of their people come here only this week and that's what they told us.

Never mind, you'll get a discount as Funsters, and the longer you stay the lower the rate you'll pay. Come for three months or more and you could get a fully serviced pitch for as little as 12 Euros per night!:thumb::thumb: Other hardstandings are available at lower cost.

Wherever you go have a great time - we agree with you that France is a beautiful country.

P.S. The third Sunday in October is Cidre et Cochonaille (Cider and Piglet - yes, you can win one!) day in our local village, and the following Sunday is the Chestnut Fair at nearby Dournazac, so there's plenty to enjoy here in October.
