Quite a few places around Buttermere, crumock water and the top of the Newlands pass. If your over 6ft6 wide though dont head that way from Braithwaite, go in from the Cockermouth end. I think there may be a spot at Portinscale near Keswick but I have never tried it. For a free pub stopover try Pooley Bridge, Ullswater. The Pooley Bridge inn has a large car park and welcomes motorhomes. Sun inn over the road does as well. Ennerdale there a couple of places. If you can get over to wast water, a few places there as well. Basically head for the more remote parts rather than Windermere or Ambleside and you should be ok (although there is an Aire at Ambleside that costs a tenner)
