some French Aires we have just visited (1 Viewer)

We have just come back from a three week trip of french Aires in Depts ...45..18..03..42..71..21..52....and I thought I would put some photos of some of French Aires we have just visited..........They may be interesting to others...:thumb: and it has been hot hot in the 30c to 38c most of the time in fact nealy all the time ...one afternoon we had rain...this is in APRIL 2010 !!!!!

I will keep adding photos when I have time..so if interested keep looking...there may be a odd fish chucked in....and to all you fishermen ITS A FISH it may be small, it may not be a carp, it may be a catfish it may not, and yes I caught many as they just kept hanging themselves on my hook, but I have not been fresh water fishing for 45 years "its a puppet" no sorry a fish.
All the Aires are on Lakes, Rivers or the Canals.

This one is dept 45.....called Ouzouer sur Trezee beutiful village on a canal...the glass wooden building are new-ish very clean toilets and showers..cleaned every morning and also for disabled:thumb:...if you look you will see the motorhomes through the glass they are just at the other side of the toilets

I have just purchased one for the first time 86 euros.for the year season..but I am hoping to get some use out of it, as it is a lot of money for just a few hours here and there......but you can buy one for I think two week or a month one for people having holidays...mine covers for all france from just below Paris downwards south, and east and west for 4 rods and above Paris for just one rod.....on rivers and canals.....but you can get day tickets as a lot of them are private....if you look at the Barlieu Aire they do a day ticket 4 euros......your aire costs you 3.5 euros the first night 2 euros the second night and for the third night and onwards just 1.50 euros ...electric is 2 euros for 24 hours and the water is free...I hope that is of some help to you.

except Barlieu all the other aires have been free, but you paid for water on some as they was flot bleu...one aire all was free, electric ,water and night stay

This Aire is Chateauneuf....page 96 ..no 36 ..dept 71.....a nice quite aire in a old village.

Yes fishing again to all you fishermen..."Its a hard life" sitting at the side of the river bank / canal / pond in a deck chair with the Motorhome in arms reach when you lean back for the coffee...no heavy gear to carry miles :thumb:

This Aire is Fontaine-Francaise.... Page 88 ..no 4...dept 21......now this is one beautiful little site in a quite beautiful village and the river fish belongs to the Chateau.......sorry no fishing ..larggggge carp and largggggggge trout...but you acn feed them as they will come to the top to take the bread........

This Aire is Donjeux....page 124...no 3...dept 52...now this is a pretty little Aire free water, free electric, empty grey and toilette cassette...perfect little Aire at the side of the canal on a corner and about 10km from Joinville......and it was totally empty....so we connected to the Electric and started to eat breakfast ...

As we had travelled from Goncourt that morning early after stopping the night.....I won't put photos on ???? read the book, they took all the room left a big gap between the next extra large motorhome but the gap was not big enough to park a motorhome and they parked side ways so with all there fellow country men they had all the river space...laid out with there towels on the sun loungers...??


Now going back to Dronjeux..we was eating our breakfast and a car pulled in a 60+ years Frenchmen got out and started chatting...( very nice man who also has a Motorhome) and said did we want any eggs as he would go into the village to get some for us..we said yes please and gave him the money after a minute of two he said have mine off the back seat he had just picked up and he would go back into the village for his again, 2 miles away...

He also said just across the road about 100m up this lane is his garage and if we wanted we could park around the back and connect to his electric.......after he had gone we said to each other why park there when was so pretty...so we had our dinner and sat in the sunshine, a few villages walked passed and a couple of joggers.....then another man pulled in and looked at the canal to fish ..he also came up to us and said he owned a motorhome....but this is what he said...if you are on your own be careful if there is two or three of you fine as two people have had somebody trying to break in.......now I think that is what the garage man was trying to say in a round about way they wanted you to stop but not get broken into so he was happy for you to park in his yard..they like the motorhomers...so we moved onto Joinville about 10km on...well we had good reports about this place from several people as we pulled in our hearts dropped and we said no surely this is not the place...........

Yep it was tucked in and squashed like sardines...even the water drop off place two French motorhomes at either side tight, if you got in with your motorhome you could not get out of your motrohome to empty, and they was getting all the smells in there vans from people emptying there cassettes....why when there are lots more Aires..and they all looked as they had been there for days and made it there campsite ????...for the week??
It must have been for the free electric...my next pictures are of Joinville...if you go and want the free electric take two lonnnng electric cables to reach the sockets at the side of the river for the boats....and the water, they was filling there motorhomes with gallon bottles from the bourne at the river side ..as the taps where you empty your cassette (two taps) says none potable....??????

This is JOINVILLE....you may like it you may not .........we did not...page 124...no 2...dept 52..........it has a council works yard at the side...But I suppose there is one good thing there is a lidl very close by in easy walking distance

Now this my last Aire I will put on of my just under three weeks trip...we have called at many other Aires that for one reason or another we did not stop...in a town, not suitable for walking the dog but for many other people were great Aires and because we did not stop no photos was taken....not even of my fishing exploits....

Now we cut our trip short by 4 days as some friends in an American Mick and Di that had been if France/Portugal/France for 8 months that was returning home to the uk, had asked if they could meet us again.......so we came home early so sorry that meant a few more aires you have missed...

This Aire is Catillon sur Sambre.....page287...no 6....dept 59...nice Aire been there before

I hope this has wet your appetite (joke) as its all about rivers / lakes / and canals....

I also hope it has helped lots of people that have not been to france and unsure about the Aires worried about coming over in there motorhomes....they are lovely people, what we have met like the english motorhomers....we have had said many times by the older generation, if it was not for the English and many others, what would France be like now ???..they like there old traditions.....we like the English and we like you coming over to france in your motorhomes
