I'm learning, but not fast enough and am lacking the confidence to get out there in my 'old lady'JIL(Irish reg) tho' we have been to Mull.My big problem is that in my ignorance I didn't drain the water heater so that parts are needed which I'm told are unavailable-am also told that this type of heater is now illegal.I'd really welcome some pearls of wisdom from some of you experienced, knowledgeable folks.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
I hope you get sorted soon and out on your travels, but i think it would be a good idea to post the make/model of water heater and the make /model of the motorhome then some of our more experianced folk might be able to give you some pointers, as there will be quite a few different heaters used in motorhomes over the years

Hiya and welcome,

Please give more info or post a pic of the unit.

I replaced my water heater for a very similar one which wasn't too much bother.

The original was 30 years old.......

Always get gas appliances checked out or connected up by a certified gas specialist before using.Venting must be correct otherwise there's the danger of noxious fumes.:Eeek:

Steve.

Water heater

:Doh:The problem water heater is a Vaillant dating from 1990.I did get my gas system checked out but have a feeling the engineer (if that's the right term) used is more used to modern vehicles. All your supportive responses are mmuch appreciated.
Just had a lovely jaunt to The Plassey,Eyton,Nr. Wrexham with my grandaughter.I look forward to visiting simpler locations when on my own.

Glad you're enjoying the "bus"....

What a lovely weekend out just for a change....::bigsmile:

I take it the Valiant is wall mounted.....and well vented.

Loads of parts on here.....Might be worth giving them a call for advice...

Hi-----you have found the correct place !!!! welcome
Is it safe to assume that the 'frost damage' has caused a water leak ?? Or does the heater just--not heat??
I am far from being an expert, but I would imagine that the main damage would be an 'exploded' tank ??-----Or pipe/joint
