Help.

My fathers friend has just installed some software on my fathers PC, this caused a problem and since then they have been trying to fix it..

It gets worse..

They decided that the problem was with the BIOS settings and the two 80 year olds (No IT skills) have been playing around... Arggggggggggggggg

Any ideas how to reset the BIOS to factory standard?

Cheers

Switch off the machine.
Hold the 'Delete' key while powering on, release the key when the system beeps. This should take you to the BIOS setup.
At the bottom of the screen find the option that restores to default, then save and exit.

If they can poke around in the bios settings, get them to look for a restore default settings, this should work. Sorry I don't know what the Dell bios menus look like but a search on google may help.

That's "exact" is it ?

If he's not fixed it and you give me something resembling a name and address I don't mind driving the 10 miles on Sunday, but we are off now so if I don't get a signal on Anglesey I won't see your reply.

I recall we have a FUN builder living just about there, of course he may know little about computers.

Reminds me of this old'un

Subject: Y 2 K problem solved!

Our staff has completed the 18 months of work on time and on budget. We have gone through everk line of code in everk program in everk skstem. We have analkzed all databases, all data files, including backups and historic archives, and modified all data to reflect the change.

We are proud to report that we have completed the "Y-to-K" date change mission, and have now implemented all changes to all programs and all data to reflect kour new standards:

Januark, Februark, March, April, Mak, June, Julk, August, September, October, November, December
As well as:

Sundak, Mondak, Tuesdak, Wednesdak, Thursdak, Fridak, Saturdak
I trust that this is satisfactork, because to be honest, none of this Y to K problem has made ank sense to me. But I understand it is a global problem, and our team is glad to help in ank wak possible. And what does the kear 2000 have to do with it? Speaking of which, what do kou think we ought to do next kear when the two digit kear rolls over from 99 to 00? We await kour direction.
