When there are aerial points at some campsites do they require the cable to have a male or female connection?

yes kitbag same both ends. If you look in asda and the like you can get a house telephone ext kit for a fiver or so witha 20m cable with the plugs fitted and its low profile cable too so smaller to store. the kit also has a converter plug to change one end to a female. this means that if you buy 2 kits you ca use one as an extension and so double the length.

Better then paying out for tv coax and plugs

You can't use telephone cable as TV coax? :Confused: did you mean "house TV ext kit" perhaps?
