Caravan theft gang jailed today! (1 Viewer)

Just heard on the radio news.
That gang that people posted about on here a few weeks ago.
4 men jailed for between 4 and 9 years each.

Not very long (IMHO) considering the scale of thier opereration,:Angry: but at least the scumbags are off the streets!:thumb:

It was quite funny really, as i know a guy that deals in stolen recovered vans. He buys then from insurers, repairs, re-registers them and sells them on cheap.

He has said that there has been a major decline in availability since this gang was caught! Goes to show what a large operation it was - the insurers he was dealing with reckon it was over 50% of thefts!

So if you live in Wales, then breath a sigh of releif...for a while anyway!:thumb:

They will not be passing on anything but excuses!!

Probably gaining some of the money back they paid out in claims!

What is with the DoT... We could cure this in a day by using the German system. They issue an abwicklungsschein which is a plasticised A3 sized log book for your caravan. If you don't have the abwicklungsschein then you don't own the caravan - simples oh:

It may work in Germany, but we have log books for vehicles and that don't stop them from being nicked.

Most average theft is down since caravans have makers chips in them. They can be scanned at any time - usually shows, service areas etc.

This gang didn't care about that - such a large scale. Often it wasn't about the caravan, it was what was inside the caravan. They came into mates place stuffed with designer gear- the police didn't want to know. They refused to look inside - and who can blame them? The time it would take to trace this stuff!
