MOT Emmissions (Geo???) (1 Viewer)

Hi Folks

Was wondering if any of you MOT type chaps (Geo!!!!) could clear up a little question for me.

I took the pickup for its MOT today and it failed on the emmissions

I asked him to do the work to get it through the test but as its an American pickup he looked a bit daunted

He then took a look at the tax disc and said "aaarrrrr its pre 2004 and has a tax revenue of £185 per year, doesnt need to pass the emmissions test" and promptly passed it :thumb:

Is this true or did he just pass it cos he didnt fancy the job of making it pass???

He shouldn't have tested it in the first place as he has no test criteria to test it to, its a visual test only
I'd like to know what he entered into his gas machine to even start the test

makes a bit of a mockery of the immisions test dunnit...no data, no check.

my '83 SJ410 had no official data so couldnt be tested but using my Gunsons analyser it was around 5 or 6%....wouldnt run any other way.

You have me confused, I had my 1996 RV tested last year at a VOSA test station down here in Camborne, Cornwall and they did an emissions test and it passed ??

I only ever had 1 MOT done on my RV & the guy who tested it admitted he couldn't be sure how to do it on a yank engine. He just gave it a pass.

Yes its "My Baby" (A Ford F150 SVT Lightning) that was tested.
