Are there any motor caravanners in our part of the world, that is, Devon (but also including Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset) who fancy meeting on site every now and again to share a glass of wine, eat out, see the sights and just generally be sociable? We are a mature couple not into large-scale rallies but like to get away frequently for a few days and think it would be fun to set up a small network of similar people in the West Country to get together, share experiences and recommend favourite sites.
So often, especially outside the peak season, we find there's either no-one else around or there are quite a few other caravanners who keep themselves to themselves or come from so far away that you're never likely to see them again. We can't find a club that offers local contacts for informal get togethers, even though there must be hundreds of motor caravanners in the West country, so we thought we'd try to set up something ourselves. If you fancy the idea, get in touch - we'll be glad to hear from you.

Hi and welcome,
Im sure there are one or two down your end of the country but think that they might be over where the sun shines more and its slightly warmer at present.

Let me know how you get on with your CL app - just curious!! Cornwall council are not keen on them, so we are buying a CL, and upgrading as a back door. Good luck with it!

(Also, the CCC are the best club site to join with apparently!)

Hi,
Where in Devon? We live in the Holsworthy area. Some sort of out-of-season get-together could be appealing. I've often thought it would be nice to just go somewhere for a few days (went to Wellington last week for a couple of days - made a nice change).

Hi and welcome

Please stick around on the site and even join in with the nightly chat room in order that contact can be maintained.

Although we live up North we often spend time in Milton Damrel just up the road from you and it would be lovely to meet.

Being as we have recently retired we are getting more ambitious and are off to France for two months after Easter. I am fairly sure will be down your pretty corner of the world soon after our return.

Keep in touch Lynda and Alan

What's at Milton Dameral for you? It's where we get our MH base vehicle serviced and it where we go for the Gym and a swim (Woodford Bridge); other than that I don't know of any particular attractions there, except the countryside, of course ::bigsmile:.

We have friends on a farm at Milton Damrel and there is or was a nice peaceful trout fishing lake at Mill Leat which has just changed ownership.

Futher more we live in the Pennines where there are seven months winter and five months bad weather so you can see the attraction of Milton Damrel.

Cheers Alan and Lynda

Trying!! Help!!!

Hello,
We're trying to reply to you all and to thank you for your messages - finding it all a little trying!!
Can't seem to see how to send individual messages or to find out what happens to these replies after we hit submit. Just tried to send a private message to Jaydee and, as far as we can see, it has not left our outbox and we can't make it go.
Could someone please explain how we can make this work so that we can get in touch with you.
Thanks.

Derek and Lesley.

PS: Can't even find the Help section - perhaps there isn't one?

Hi Derek,
Just replied to your PM.
Try having a look at Edit Options...
At the top of the window on the righthand side is your Welcome, which tells you when you last visited. If you click on the blue Private Messages it opens a new different window. Down the left had side are lots of links to the things that you can or may want to do. One of these is Edit Options. Click on this and you will see three or four boxes. One is to do with V cards - unless you know what they are then forget it. One of the boxes has to do with Private Messages. This is where you select the way you want them to behave.

Hope you followed all that. :winky:

Hi Rod,
Just sent (I hope) a private message in reply to yours. Can you let us know if you get it?
Looks like you did not receive our note to you a month ago and don't know if it went.
We are receiving private messages but our replies don't appear to be going anywhere.
We're baffled by it!!

Best wishes

Derek and Lesley

Time to get moving!!

Haven't been in contact for a while - weather too bad and lots of family commitments - but finally we are just about ready to get moving!!
Nothing like a sudden burst of spring, very warm and sunny here over the last few days, to boost the enthusiams to get away.
So, unless it snows, freezes or floods, we aim to take a long-planned trip, probably to Blue Anchor, near Minehead, at the end of next week (after the school holidays are over), likely to set off on Friday, April 23rd. and to stay away for a few days. If not the Hoburne site at Blue Anchor, it will be some other nearby site - there's lots to choose from. It's a really nice spot for a few days by the sea.
When we have finally decided on the site, we shall pass on the details to everyone who's been in touch with us...And wait to see if anyone else turns up.

we are from Plymouth and have booked to stay on the Padstow Touring Park for the Royal Cornwall Show over 10-13 June. Will be on pitch 57 so if you come, pop over.

If you fancy a free guided tour of Plymouth, stay at Riverside (Always advertised in the back of MMM) and give me a call etc.

Hi Geoff,
Nice to hear from you and thanks for guided tour offer.
We used to live in Cornwall and went to the show quite a few times so not likely to go this year. Nearly went to the Padstow site (I think it was the same one) earlier this year but couldn't get a hardstanding so we put it off - that's a place that is on our list but maybe it will be full over the show weekend.
We'll certainly take you up on your offer if we make it to Plymouth - up to now, the only trips down there are to Marquis at Lee Mill where we bought our Nuevo and get it serviced.
Our immediate plans (unless it snows, freezes or floods) are to take a long-planned trip, probably to Blue Anchor, near Minehead, towards the end of next week, likely to set off on Thursday, April 22nd. and to stay a few days. You'd be welcome if the idea appeals to you. It's a part of the world we have been to several times and really like that bit of coast. The Hoburne site, right on the seafront, is also convenient for the steam railway which runs behind the site. Very nostalgic.
