Jgee If you are going to any shows, they often sell them with large discount on the very last day because they don't want to take them back home again. Might be worth considering. Regards.

Hi,

If you take a look in the ads section of the forum, you will find a couple preloved.

Mine was there but I have not advertised it for a time. If you follow the links on my website to Drive away awning you will see a page on how it is errected.

Have a look in the Classifieds section, there is a Kyham Motordome Excelsior for sale.
We are very pleased with ours, takes about 10 minutes to put up or take down.

Hi jgee

Before you go and splash the cash, make sure that you REALLY want one and are going to definitely use it. Lots of people buy these and then find they don't or can't be bothered to use them, and then sell them on.

There's a thread on the t'other Motorhome forum which covers a lot of what you'll probably want to think about:

Awning

We have just ordered one from Tamworth Camping. It's a Movelite XL and it was £119 delivered. They have a supply of overstocked and customer returned awnings which are way lower priced than anywhere. Give them a try. We dealt with a young lady called Heather tel:01827 250095.

I must stress that I do not have any ties to Tamworth Camping only as a customer.

I have a Movelite XL and very pleased with it ..
It comes supplied with throw over straps or it can be slid into an awning rail .. as I have done.

I assume you can only get the cheaper awnings by ringing as the one on the website is £224 inc vat plus delivery.

I agree. We have the same awning for our Autoquest 100 (basically the same as Avantgarde 100).

Sorry to hijack but while on the subject of Elddis can I just ask a quickie please whilst on the subject of Awnings
Ours is a Elddis 115 and according to one of the salesman at the NEC we cannot attach an awning unless we get one fitted externally as such. The guttering etc does not allow you just to thread one through. Would one of those Movelite XL allow erection :Eeek: just by throwing the straps over. If not is there anything about what would give me something to buffer up to the M/H to give me extra space.
.
Thanks

In a word, YES, it comes with long straps that you throw over the van and peg out on the other side

I fitted a rail as my roll out awning prevented a close fit .. an easy job to do

Our van has a J rail fitted (don't know if that was standard as we bought it at 2 years old). The Khyam awning comes with plastic figure 8 sections which slide onto the awning and then clip to the J rail.

I think the main difference between the Khyam and the Movelite is that the former is rather larger (approx 3m x 3m with 1m attachment "tunnel" to the van).

Sorry Jim, my mistake. I thought the Movelite was smaller. Turns out they are the same size

Edit: After looking at the Leisure Shop web site I realise I'd been thinking it was the Porchlite.

Anybody got any opinions on Blenheim XL awning.. With my Wife disabled I need something that one person can erect, with not too many complications. I'm no DIY person. Anything which requires holes drilling to put rails in etc would cost us more to get somebody in to put things right.

Both awnings look pretty similar to me.

blenheim awning

movelite awning

One other thing to think about when buying an awning is how BIG do you need it? The best way to work this out is to measure and mark out the size of the base on the drive, in the lounge etc, then place on it the bits and pieces you will want to have in the awning with you, leaving a bit of a gap nearest the outside edges to allow for the rake of the awning. Once you've done this you can 'move' around in the space, between chairs, tables etc, and see if it is the right sized for your intended use. Better to get the right size now than find it's too big or too smale and have to change it.

Another thing - make sure the awning is high enough otherwise it will stop the caravan door opening freely.
