Just about to book the tunnel for a two seek Normandy holiday first two weeks in July and just noticed that the French schools break up on the 3rd July .
Question is how busy will it be and am I better off going two weeks earlier and avoiding the holidays?

not sure about Normandy with it being up North, but we were much further South a few years back on an extended touring holiday (caravan). We just caught the start of the French holidays as we headed home and you woudn't believe how much busier all the sites got. We vowed to stick to May/June for our big break in future.

Loads of people in Northern France will be heading south, not that many coming north.

Hello there

We have done France a number of years during the month of July and haven't encountered any problems with either traffic or campsites/aires. The only problem/inconvenience we have had is the weekends, when the French motorhomers take to the roads/services and aires.

Hope this gives you some guidance. Enjoy your holiday.

Hi.

You shouldn't have to many problems although it will start to get busier even in Normandy.

What you will find is that most campsites tarrifs will go up to there peak season prices, also camping-cheque and asci discounts cannot be used in peak season if you intend to use sites.

Mike.
