How can you only stay 1 night in such a magical place??? :Eeek::Eeek:

We stayed on Camping Fusina for 4 nights in Sept 2008 - was expensive but good site.

Have you got the sostas book - there may be something in there!

The Italian Sostas book is very good - we used it a few times when we were there. Can't look up Venice for you as I've left the book in England! (we're in Spain now!)

Good luck!

venice

you can go to the coach park by the multi storey carpark, sounds grim, its not, enter coach park turn right and go to end, there is an aire, e/h water etc, seperate from rest, 3 mins walk to water bus, its great, you park overlooking bay, it was 18 euros for 24 hrs, not that bad, arrive mid morn, you will not see all of venice, but you wouldnt in a week, enjoy, if you get to zadar, a walled city, head for the side of river the big ferries moor up, nose in and stop there, you do hear a bit off noise from 0130 ferry, then its quiet, have been 3 years running, any room in case for me :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You won't have time for the beach if you are going into Venice:RollEyes:

Hi, we'd be interested Froghopper in a few more details of the aire. Is it the multi storey after you drive over the causeway?
We usually stay at Camping della Serenissima on the Brenta Canal, on the road from Padua to Venice. It's not at the beach but has a bus to Venice every 20 minutes and it's a short journey. Last time we bought our Venice daily travel tickets from the site and these included the bus in and out. Booking isn't necessary, it's 32 euros for high season this year. Shady and pleasant with shop and small restaurant.

thanks tommytii. It looks very good for access to Venice. The campsite I mentioned is a good position for driving on to Croatia.

That looks good - would be interested in hearing how you get on if you go there!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

The campsite was expensive + the ferry + the last ferry was quite early so impossible to have a night out in Venice!

When we were there there was to be a concert in a church of Vivaldi's Four Seasons - he was from Venice and wrote it there - so it would have been quite cool to go to a concert - but - we couldn't make the last ferry so didn't do it!!

Hi we also stayed on Camping della Serenissima, just a short bus ride from Venice, you will need a whole day at Venice, get a water bus ticket and you can hop on and off as many times as you like, you must also go to Murano where the glass makers are.
We have also stayed on a camp site some years ago in a static caravan but they do take motorhomes this is at Punta Sabbione, just out side the site you can get the water bus to Venice.
enjoy!!
Where abouts in Croatia are you visiting, we went to Moscenicka Draga, found a camp site for a couple of nights, nice site quite cheap, 5 mins walk to beach, hubby and brother went for a dive as there is a dive centre.
really enjoyed slovenia and Croatia

Hello, you can overnight at parking Il Tronchetto, Piazzale Tronchetto ( 45º 26' 34.61'' N 12º 18' 28.45''E, use Google earth to see it, you'll see a bus park and at the right you can see some motorhomes).

I was there two years ago. It's a little expensive(28 - 30 €) but there are hook up and water and it's next to vaporetto stop, I don't remember the number line but it's the one that sails by Gran Canal to San Marcos, even at night.

I hope I could help you.

Good bye from Spain.

Put the co-ordinates below into Google Earth and it will show a private sosta at Punta Sabbioni, just south of the ferry landing. It is run by a slightly eccentric Italian who is 'on guard' all day and has a surveillance camera operating through the night - so it's pretty secure.

We stayed there for a few days last September. Easy to get into Venice on the ferry (multi-day ticket) and the site was quiet. Motorhomes only, but you don't have to be self-contained as there is a decent shower block as well as the usual services. I think we paid €16 per night.

Might be a bit a haul around the peninsula just for an overnight stop on the way to Croatia though.

Venice stopover - Municiple Motorhome site -Lido de Jesolo - excellent

Hi
We had a stopover to see Venice on our way back from Croatia. We used a municiple site on the lido de jesolo. This is a peninsula opposite Venice. The site only accepts Mhomes, it is barrier/warden controlled.

There is a decent restaurant next door and it is 5-10 minutes walk from the ferry into Venice.

It has spaces for maybe 20 vans with all services available. We visited in August and found no problem getting a pitch (we got there early-mid afternoon - it filled towards evening). Quite cheap as well.

Just drive all the way down the penisula until you get to the ferry station. Turn left and it is a few hundred yards up the coast road. Do not confuse it with the commercial site next door.

We found the listing in the Caravan Club european site book.

Can anyone recommend a quiet and cheap (or even free) spot within 20 miles of Venice? Hoping to go at some point this year but we will have the scooter with us so dont need to be right on top of it. Presume its ok to take the scooter into Venice and park it for a day?

Hi,
This might help, Link Removed

buy a ticket for the Vaporetto (water bus) to cover how many days you are there, will save you a fotune and also will save you having to queue for ages buying them for each trip.
Enjoy,
Rob and Chris.

Camping Miramare at Punta Sabbioni is good - though when we were there, we were given the bum part of the site because they thought we were hippies! :ROFLMAO: (it's all in the book!)

Handy for the Traghetto to the city, next to the beach too.

We stop at a site about a mile north up the coast from the causeway leading to the main event so to speak..
Aint that cheap at €25 but has really good facilities .
We then drive in the van over the causeway and stop in the bus park ( lots of MH there.. Cost of parking for a whole day has been up to now €5.00 but word is it will be more this year )

A water bus is very cheap but for the complete deal get a water taxi :winky:

One thing..
We have had a couple of attempted thefts happen while walking the avenues
Both were clumsy and blatant .. basically snatch and run and both times article being snatched was on straps wound round wrist or body.. be careful !!
