Hi all,

The MOT is up on our MH next month, this is the first one since we've owned it but we don't know where to take it to get it tested, can a 'normal' garage do the MOT or does it have to be a commercial Van dealership?

The MH is based on a Fiat Ducato 2.5 Tdi.

Since 2005
any regular MOT garage can do it but it will depend if they can fit it through the doors heightwise.

local tyre dealer does mine....height no problem but his lift struggles a bit. 4000kg lift and a 3850kg van

We have problems with the weight.

Most ramps won't take the weight/length/width/height of the RV.

We use a local Commercial Vehicle MOT station/garage,

They are very fair and advise on anything that might be needing attention at my request..::bigsmile:

I prefer to be advised on any possible issues as it's not possible to see everything from a slide "mechanic's trolley"

'Ministry' testing station is best as they have no interest in repairs so wont fail something for the sake of failing it.

one tester may fail an item on the chance you say "fix it then"..whereas another may pass it with an advisory.
the tester can only go on his own knowledge/opinion of what fails and what passes.

We have all our vehicles tested through the local Councils. Its usually a little cheaper than garages.

They are very thorough and you can watch whilst testing is being done.
