Smoke alarm vs Toast (1 Viewer)

Doors open, windows open, roof vents to max, still the B smoke alarm screams when we fancy toast for breakfast, have resorted to seperating machine from battery which seems to have done the trick. We now of course face the possibility of becoming toast ourselves with no warning if something electrical decides to fight back. Anyone found a good trick to combat the wailing unit ?

Hi

Use electric toaster outside door on long lead, no problem.

Under van if raining.

Get a toast friendly alarm, and no I'm not joking.

When we (finally) bought alarms for the house, and then the (last) RV we found one's in B&Q, I think, that are designed so they shouldn't go off for toast, cooking, cigarettes etc, and it seemed to work, no false alarms, unlike the one in the current RV which is the origional and like your's, bloomin thing goes of at anything.

We take ours down when cooking and likely to go off.

1/4 turn removes said alarm from the ceiling mount, put it on the table to remind you to replace it once toast is done.

we're plagued with the same problem...i usually carry on through it and it resets eventually.

my question is......has anyone found one of these toast freindly ones which includes a carbon monoxide detector.

our current one does both in one unit and it shouts as well

FIRE...FIRE...SQUEAL..SQUEAL..FIRE..FIRE,

WARNING--CARBON MONOXIDE..SQUEAL..SQUEAL, WARNING--CAR......ETC

PJ, do not want to burst your bubble but what you have there is a small child nailed to the roof..
Have you never wondered why the battery does not seem to run out ?

Buy one of those small push button light switches. Drill a hole through the side of the smake alarm casing near the wiring from the battery and fit switch. Cut one of the wires coming from the battery and wire the ends into the switch. When the alarm goes off just operate the switch. After breakfast reset the switch. Had one that I modified in our caravan for years and it worked a treat. Probably a good idea to have a pice of bright coloured cord that you can leave dangling when you have isolated the alarm, then restow when you switch it back on.

Something like this:
