After months of deliberating, we think we have decided on the specification on van we want -

1. Preferably German built (or equivalent quality?)
2. Coachbuilt with large overcab bed, (greater than 4' 6" wide and good length, also with good headroom).
3. Double dinette with single settee opposite and rear kitchen,
4. Separate shower or with clear separate shower area.
5. Length max 6 meters.
6. Engine 2.3 Ltr or larger.

Our ideal van would be the Hymer C544k circa 2004, which also fits our price range of about £20k +/- but it is taking us a while to find one.

Any other suggestions which fit the bill?

Thanks

Quite close to our Burstner A530 but we lack the settee. However that settee space costs you dear, ours has a good kitchen/storage there. It's an interesting trade off, we do miss that settee at times.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Our CI Mizar ticks most of the boxes except the length and price ones.
Loads of lounging around space ( which we found lacking in a lot of M.H ) and swivel cab seats.
We found up to 2006 a lot better build quality than the new version 2009 /10 and its fully winterized, which if we could get off our street , cos of the sheet ice, would be great  We are going stir crazy now.

Mine comes close but its a US Class C, 8 Metres Long. It has a slide out which is great for lounge space.

Have a look at the Hymer 584 seems to fit your description well, excellent separate shower good end kitchen, had our 4 years and would not swap it, well worth a look. Good luck with your search.

Ah! That is (I think) the exact MH we are looking for. I would only add (for us):

7. Ideally on a Transit base.

McLouis 410 perhaps ?

Since starting this thread I have come across a van which meets most of my requirements.
It is the McLouis 410.

It is only 18 feet long but crams nearly everything in a well designed interior. They seem to sell for about £18k for a 2004 model, very reasonable.
They seem quite well constructed, but can anyone comment on the built quality etc?

Surely the OP is asking for a coachbuilt, not an A class....?

Not an unreasonable suggestion I thought, unlike some others.

'Other suggestions' to me meant other coachbuilt MHs.

..but let's not fall out over this :winky:
