Question for those who have fitted LED Strip lights under awnings

Do.you just stick the strip as is or do you purchase an aluminium channel with clear / opal cover and put your strip inside these?

If you use a channel will the cheap 3.59 rolls be okay or will they still melt in heat as I have read?

Also do peeps wire to outside light or drill through and wire to an internal light?

If outside light and using dimmer will the dimmer dim the main outside light as well as leds?

Thanks in advance.

Mine are just stuck on but do come in plastic like coating, they were only cheap ebay china ones...
Drilled through van and I have the control box for changing the colours / fading etc in there...

I fitted my LED strip lights into aluminium chanel which clips underneath the awning box. I wired them into a separate switch and installed a remote control which allows me to dim them (I didn't go for RGB, just white). Here are a few pics:

Can I ask DPSUK999 where you sourced the alustrip with the clear insert,
I fitted mine straight onto the Awning and they work perfectly, however,I have to say your idea is much better and the rail will allow you get it perfectly straight. Thanks

If u do a search u will find several past threads on this very subject.
Whilst the roll came with 3m sticky tape attached I used thin body mouting tape as its much stronger adhesive.
